Dynamic Anterior Stabilization of the Shoulder: Onlay Biceps Transfer to the Anterior Glenoid Using the Double Double‐Pulley Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 12, Issue 7, Page e1097-e1106, July 2023., 2023
Abstract The treatment of anterior glenohumeral instability includes several surgical options, ranging from soft tissue to bony procedures—open or arthroscopic. In arthroscopic dynamic anterior stabilization (DAS) of the shoulder, the long head of the biceps is transferred to the anterior glenoid through a subscapularis tendon split.

Management of off‐track Hill‐Sachs lesions in anterior glenohumeral instability

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 10, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Abstract Bone loss has been identified as a risk factor for recurrent shoulder dislocations or failure after soft tissue repair. Although the range for “critical” bone loss is yet to be determined, glenoid and humeral bone defects should not be regarded as independent problems, but the interaction between them during shoulder motion should be evaluated

Knotless Arthroscopic Glenoid Labral Stabilization for a 270° Tear With Concurrent Remplissage in the Lateral Decubitus Position

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 11, Issue 11, Page e1831-e1841, November 2022., 2022
Abstract Labral tears resulting in 270° near‐circumferential pathology predispose patients to recurrent instability and are technically challenging to repair. Furthermore, when such lesions are associated with Hill‐Sachs lesions, recurrent instability risk is significantly increased and can result in substantially lower clinical outcomes.

Arthroscopic Anterior Glenoid Bone Grafting for Shoulder Instability Using an Interconnected Suture Anchor Technique

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 11, Issue 10, Page e1817-e1822, October 2022., 2022
Abstract Anterior bone grafting is an established and frequently used treatment option for recurrent anterior shoulder instability in combination with significant glenoid bone loss. Several open and arthroscopic fixation techniques have been presented to this field in recent years.

Lithium for Fracture Treatment (LiFT): a double-blind randomised control trial protocol

open access: yesBMJ Open, 2020
Introduction Fracture healing can fail in up to 10% of cases despite appropriate treatment. While lithium has been the standard treatment for bipolar disorder, it may also have a significant impact to increase bone healing in patients with long bone ...

Arthroscopic Latarjet Procedure Using FiberTape Cerclage With a Simplified Technique for Suture Passage and Coracoid Fixation

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, Volume 11, Issue 7, Page e1277-e1287, July 2022., 2022
Abstract Arthroscopic Latarjet has evolved as a reproducible procedure to address significant anterior glenoid bone loss in recurrent anterior instability of the shoulder joint. While arthroscopic Bankart procedure for anterior shoulder instability has changed from metal anchors to absorbable or soft all‐suture anchors to avoid metal‐ware and ...

Biological and molecular profile of fracture non‐union tissue: A systematic review and an update on current insights

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 26, Issue 3, Page 601-623, February 2022., 2022
Abstract Fracture non‐union represents a common complication, seen in 5%–10% of all acute fractures. Despite the enhancement in scientific understanding and treatment methods, rates of fracture non‐union remain largely unchanged over the years. This systematic review investigates the biological, molecular and genetic profiles of both (i) non‐union ...

The anatomy and variation of the coracoid attachment of the subclavius muscle in humans

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 240, Issue 2, Page 376-384, February 2022., 2022
Dissections of the upper extremity showed a fibrous structure, extending from the subclavius muscle (SM) and inserting into the coracoid process. Due to the high incidence, we hypothesized that this structure is more common than appreciated and that the function of the SM was (or has been) more complex.

A Rare Case of Segmental Clavicle Fracture in an Adolescent

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2013
Clavicular fractures commonly occur in adults and children. The usual mechanism of injury is a fall on the outstretched hand or direct trauma. The usual site of these fractures is the mid clavicle with lateral end and medial end clavicular fractures ...
