Staging in bipolar disorder: from theoretical framework to clinical utility

open access: yesWorld Psychiatry, 2017
Illness staging is widely utilized in several medical disciplines to help predict course or prognosis, and optimize treatment. Staging models in psychiatry in general, and bipolar disorder in particular, depend on the premise that psychopathology moves ...

Harnessing Photo‐Energy Conversion in Nanomaterials for Precision Theranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Harnessing photo‐energy conversion in nanomaterials enables precision theranostics through light‐driven mechanisms such as photoluminescence, photothermal, photoelectric, photoacoustic, photo‐triggered surface‐enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), and photodynamic processes. This review explores six fundamental principles of photo‐energy conversion, recent

Cognitive improvement and prefrontal network interactions in individuals with remitted bipolar disorder after transcranial infrared laser stimulation

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry
BackgroundConverging evidence suggests that bipolar disorder (BD) involves mitochondrial dysfunction and prefrontal cortex (PFC) hypometabolism associated with cognitive impairment, which persists in remitted BD individuals.

Impaired regulation of emotion: Neural correlates of reappraisal and distraction in bipolar disorder and unaffected relatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Deficient emotion regulation has been proposed as a crucial pathological mechanism in bipolar disorder (BD). We therefore investigated emotion regulation impairments in BD, the related neural underpinnings and their etiological relevance for the disorder.

Wireless Acousto‐Piezoelectric Conduit with Aligned Nanofibers for Neural Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrasound‐driven, highly aligned piezoelectric nanofiber‐based nerve guidance conduit (APNF‐NGC) designed for effective peripheral nerve repair has been demonstrated in this study. Featuring aligned topology, cell‐adhesive surfaces, and an axial electric field, the APNF‐NGC collectively promotes significant nerve regeneration.
