Harnessing Phase Separation for the Development of High‐Performance Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hydrogels are indispensable for the development of next‐generation bioelectronics, soft robotics, and biomedical devices, where their mechanical properties determine performance and reliability. Among strategies to enhance hydrogel mechanics, phase separation enables controlled heterogeneity resulting in gel networks that are reinforced by ...

A Bird Matching Game: Difficulty, Rewards and Intrinsic Motivation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Serious Games
In this study the effects of several variables on intrinsic motivation and in-game progression are tested in a serious game that matches bird pictures to names. The first variables are ‘pointification’ rewards (badges and points) and educational rewards

High‐Power Terahertz Emission from Picosecond Nano‐Plasma Switching Driven by Secondary Electron Emission Avalanche

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nano‐plasma device enables watt‐level on‐chip THz generation through picosecond switching triggered by secondary electron emission avalanche. An ultra‐dense electron sheet initiates nano‐plasma formation within a ∼100 nm gap, driving rapid energy release into an integrated resonator.

A Universal Approach to Enhancing Silicon Hot‐Carrier Photodetectors for CMOS‐Compatible SWIR Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Silicon hot‐carrier photodetectors offer a CMOS‐compatible pathway for SWIR detection but suffer from intrinsically low quantum efficiency. Here, we introduce a quasi‐generalized antireflection coating (QARC) that universally enhances optical absorption and quantum efficiency, enabling the first CMOS‐compatible SWIR imaging with silicon hot‐carrier ...

À tire-d’aile ! La femme oiseau dans la BD, de la Belle Époque à nos jours

open access: yesImages Re-Vues
Poule, cocotte, dinde, oie blanche... All these bird names have been attributed to women in the 9th art. The fickle ‘cocottes’ are accused of strutting about, adorned with peacock feathers whose eyes make men wink.
