AbstractFine‐grained, siliciclastic units of the >1642 ± 3.9 Ma late Palaeoproterozoic Limbunya Group, Birrindudu Basin host rich, well‐preserved organic‐walled microfossil assemblages that include members of total‐group eukaryotes. These assemblages include taxa characteristic of this interval such asTappania planaandSatka favosa, as well as less ...

Low‐temperature thermal history of the McArthur Basin: Influence of the Cambrian Kalkarindji Large Igneous Province on hydrocarbon maturation [PDF]
The Kalkarindji Large Igneous Province was erupted across much of northern and western Australia at ca. 510 Ma, blanketing the region below extensive basaltic lava flows. Within the McArthur Basin in the North Australian Craton, new apatite fission track data provide evidence for heating of the shallow basin during this event.

Source rocks of the Birrindudu Basin: perspectives from a new sampling program
The Paleo- to Mesoproterozoic Birrindudu Basin is an underexplored frontier basin straddling the Northern Territory and Western Australia, and is a region of focus for the second phase of Geoscience Australia’s Exploring for the Future (EFTF) program (2020–2024). Hydrocarbon exploration in the Birrindudu Basin has been limited and a thorough assessment

The Victoria and Birrindudu Basins of the Victoria River region, northwest Northern Territory, represent a pair of stacked unmetamorphosed Paleoproterozoic to Neoproterozoic basins unconformably overlying low-grade metamorphic basement. SHRIMP U–Pb analysis of detrital zircons provide a basis for lithostratigraphic correlations with other Proterozoic ...

Petrography of the Birrindudu Basin
2023This report presents the results of petrographic and X-ray Diffraction analysis undertaken by Microanalysis Australia under contract to Geoscience Australia, on rock samples collected from selected drill holes across the Proterozoic Birrindudu Basin and underlying metamorphic basement.
