Superdeformation in the bismuth nuclei [PDF]

High angular-momentum states in [sup 196,197]Bi were populated in the reaction [sup 183]W ([sup 19]F,[ital xn]) at a beam energy of 108 MeV, and [gamma] rays were detected with the Gammasphere array. Two weakly populated rotational bands, with energy spacings characteristic of superdeformation have been found.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
