Encoding Magnetic Anisotropies in Digital Light Processing 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid magnetic device—combining a coaxial coil within a nested Halbach array—is presented, integrated into a DLP 3D printer to enable spatially resolved magnetic field control. This system enables complex, multimodal responses by programming liquid crystal elastomer resins for magnetic and thermal actuation, and by inducing electrically conductive ...

Dual Chemical Looping/Catalytic Process for Alkylation of Benzene With Ethane and Propane Yielding Ethylbenzene and Cumene Over Copper‐Containing Mordenite

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We report a dual chemical looping/catalytic process coupling alkane dehydrogenation with aromatic alkylation over Cu‐mordenite, yielding up to 25% alkylated aromatics with >95% selectivity per cycle. In situ NMR, FTIR spectroscopy, and DFT show alkylation proceeds via a π‐bound Cu(I)–olefin intermediate and Brønsted acid sites.

Bisphenol A, Obesity, and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Genuine Concern or Unnecessary Preoccupation? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Bisphenol A or BPA is a ubiquitious industrial chemical found in a variety of plastic containers intended for food storage and in the epoxy resin linings of metal food and beverage cans, where it is used to prevent corrosion, food contamination, and ...

Facet‐Engineered S‐Scheme Heterostructure With Enhanced Active Sites for Efficient Photocatalytic Degradation of Organic Contaminants

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The facet‐engineered ZnO/Zn3In2S6 heterostructure, dominated by {001} plane coupling, exposes abundant unsaturated Zn sites with elongated Zn─O bonds, directing photoexcited charge carriers along an S‐scheme pathway and suppressing recombination. Enhanced interfacial Zn adsorption toward bisphenol A and methylene blue further synergistically promotes ...

Occurrence and human exposure assessment of bisphenol analogues in various paper products from Korea

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
Bisphenol A (BPA) has been widely used in various paper products, particularly as a color developer in thermal receipts. Growing concerns about its toxicity have prompted the introduction of other bisphenols as alternatives.

Hyperbranched phosphorus flame retardants: multifunctional additives for epoxy resins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We successfully synthesized multifunctional P-based hyperbranched polymeric flame retardants (hb-FRs) with varying oxygen-to-nitrogen (O : N) content and characterized them via 1H and 31P NMR and GPC.

Novel Functional Materials via 3D Printing by Vat Photopolymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Perspective systematically analyzes strategies for incorporating functionalities into 3D‐printed materials via Vat Photopolymerization (VP). It explores the spectrum of achievable functionalities in recently reported novel materials—such as conductive, energy‐storing, biodegradable, stimuli‐responsive, self‐healing, shape‐memory, biomaterials, and

Zebrafish Embryonic Exposure to BPAP and Its Relatively Weak Thyroid Hormone-Disrupting Effects

open access: yesToxics, 2020
Safe endocrine-disrupting alternatives for bisphenol A (BPA) are needed because its adverse health effects have become a public concern. Some bisphenol analogues (bisphenol F and S) have been applied, but their endocrine-disrupting potential is either ...
