Rejection of endocrine disrupting compounds (bisphenol A, bisphenol F and triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate) by membrane technologies

open access: yesDesalination, 2007
Application of membrane technologies as treatment for wastewater has grown in recent years. Accordingly, this study aimed to determine the retention capacity of these technologies for high concentrations of non-charged organic molecules such as endocrine disrupters (bisphenol A, bisphenol F and triethyleneglycol dimethacrylate or TEGDMA), which are ...

Chlorination of bisphenol A in aqueous media: formation of chlorinated bisphenol A congeners and degradation to chlorinated phenolic compounds

Chemosphere, 2002
The chlorination of bisphenol A (BPA) in aqueous media was investigated in order to describe the degradation profile of this compound and the formation of chlorinated products. Aqueous solutions of BPA (approx. 1 mg/l) were chlorinated by sodium hypochlorite solution at room temperature and under weakly alkaline conditions.

Microbial degradation of three novel bisphenol compounds

open access: yes, 2016
Bisphenol A, 2-2-bis (4 hydroxypenyl propane) (BPA) is a synthetic compound used in the production of polycarbonate, epoxy resins and in the synthesis of the flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A. It is found in everyday products such as plastic water bottles, food containers, furniture and textiles. The discovery of its endocrine disrupting properties

Oxidation of bisphenol A (BPA) and related compounds by the multifunctional catalytic globin dehaloperoxidase

Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry, 2023
Dehaloperoxidase (DHP) from the marine polychaete Amphitrite ornata is a multifunctional enzyme that possesses peroxidase, peroxygenase, oxidase and oxygenase activities. Herein, we investigated the reactivity of DHP B with bisphenol A (BPA) and related compounds (bisphenol E, bisphenol F, tetrachlorobisphenol A, 2,2'-biphenol, 3,3'-biphenol, 4,4 ...
