Soluble Molecularly Imprinted Polymer-Based Potentiometric Sensor for Determination of Bisphenol AF [PDF]

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry, 2017
Molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-based polymeric membrane potentiometric sensors have been successfully developed for determination of organic compounds in their ionic and neutral forms. However, most of the MIP receptors in potentiometric sensors developed so far are insoluble and cannot be well dissolved in the polymeric membranes.

Investigation of Potential Risks in Bio‐Based Food Contact Materials (FCMs) From Microbial Exploitation of Agricultural Wastes: Case Studies of Bacterial Cellulose and Nisin

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT In the context of the circular economy and the increasing demand for safe and sustainable packaging, this work addresses the safety assessment of food contact materials (FCMs) derived from agro‐industrial by‐products. Despite growing interest in these bio‐based materials, the literature still lacks a structured safety‐assessment framework able

Enhanced Gamma Radiation Shielding Using Epoxy Quartz Fabric Composites Reinforced With CoCl2 Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 8, 22 April 2026.
The growing demand for lightweight, nontoxic, and multifunctional gamma shielding materials has intensified efforts to find alternatives to conventional lead and aluminum‐based protectants. In this work, we develop epoxy quartz fabric composites reinforced with cobalt chloride (CoCl2) microparticles, fabricated via hand lay‐up with varying filler ...

Analogy or fallacy, unsafe chemical alternatives: Mechanistic insights into energy metabolism dysfunction induced by Bisphenol analogs in HepG2 cells

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2023
Bisphenol analogs (BPs) are widely used as industrial alternatives for Bisphenol A (BPA). Their toxicity assessment in humans has mainly focused on estrogenic activity, while other toxicity effects and mechanisms resulting from BPs exposure remain ...

Two‐Way Shape Memory Alloy and Polymer Composite Hybrid Smart Actuator With High Speed, Accuracy, and Reversible Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 33, 23 April 2026.
Tailored thermo‐mechanical properties of shape memory polymer composites enable large reversible deformation as well as high actuation speed. Moreover, a structural design with curvature in the transverse direction achieves sub‐second actuation on heating and a larger recovery ratio on cooling. Finally, these newly developed smart two‐way actuators can

SR‐B1‐Mediated Transplacental Transfer of Hydrophobic Toxicants Disrupts Fetal Development During Barriergenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 23, 23 April 2026.
This study maps the spatiotemporal distribution of hydrophobic toxicants and endogenous metabolites in the developing placenta and fetus. By integrating mass spectrometry imaging with snRNA‐seq, we identify SR‐B1 as a key transporter driving early‐gestation xenobiotic transfer and reveal a critical exposure window associated with persistent fetal ...

Bisphenols: Endocrine Disruptors and Their Impact on Fish: A Review

open access: yesFishes
Bisphenols (BPs), particularly bisphenol A (BPA) and its structural analogues, are synthetic compounds widely used in plastics and industrial materials. These substances are also recognised as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) due to their ability to

Exposure to phenols during pregnancy and the first year of life in a new type of couple-child cohort relying on repeated urine biospecimens

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2020
Background: Parabens, bisphenol A and triclosan have been forbidden or restricted in specific types of consumer goods in Europe and France. Limited biomonitoring data are available in France since the implementation of these regulations, and exposure ...

Sulfonated Co‐Poly(arylene‐ethynylene) PolyHIPE Hydrogels: Synthesis and Structure–Activity Relationships

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 4, April 2026.
Sulfonated conjugated polyHIPE hydrogels with tunable ionic content are synthesized using Sonogashira polycondensation. Controlled copolymer composition regulates water uptake, porosity, and photophysical properties, enabling structure‐activity relationships for adsorption and photocatalytic removal of bisphenols at the polymer‐water interface ...
