Synthesis of bis(hydroxyethyl ether)s of aromatic dihydroxy compounds and poly(ether-carbonate)s with bisphenol A

open access: yesPolymer International, 1998
A new class of copoly(ether-carbonate)s was synthesized using a melt polycondensation reaction of the bis(hydroxyethyl ether) of bisphenol A with bisphenols and diphenyl carbonate. Copolymers with a wide range of T g values (62-140°C) were obtained. The copolymer structures were established by 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and FTIR investigations.
