Binary Mixtures of Selected Bisphenols in the Environment: Their Toxicity in Relationship to Individual Constituents

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the most popular and commonly used plasticizer in the industry. Over the past decade, new chemicals that belong to the bisphenol group have increasingly been used in industrial applications as alternatives to BPA. Nevertheless,

Ammonium Salts as Curing Agents to Obtain Ionic Epoxy Resins With a Thermoplastic‐to‐Thermoset Transition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic epoxy networks are prepared using ammonium salts as hardeners, leading to a two‐stage curing process with a thermoplastic‐like intermediate. This uncommon behavior enables extrusion and fabrication of thermoplastic prepregs that can be cured into thermoset composites.

Reaction kinetics and molecular characterization of the compounds formed by photosensitized degradation of the plastic additive bisphenol A in the atmospheric aqueous phase

open access: yesScientific Reports
Bisphenol A (BPA, 4,4'-(propane-2,2-diyl)diphenol) is a common plasticizer that is very widespread in the environment and is also found at significant concentrations in the global oceans, due to contamination by plastics.

CVD Grown Hybrid MoSe2–WSe2 Lateral/Vertical Heterostructures With Strong Interlayer Exciton Emission

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable bottom‐up CVD methodology, based on liquid transition metal salt precursors, is presented for the controlled growth of two high‐quality MoSe2–WSe2 heterostructures (HSs): purely lateral (HS I) and hybrid lateral/vertical (HS II), by simply adjusting precursor concentration.

Stress Transfer Within Microphase‐Separated Structures: A Post‐Synthetic Strategy to Impart Mechanoresponsiveness to Block Copolymer Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A domain‐engineered post‐functionalization strategy is presented to impart mechanochromism to styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS) block copolymers by simple blending with a tetraarylsuccinonitrile (TASN) mechanophore‐containing polystyrene (PS‐TASN‐PS). The resulting materials exhibit reversible fluorescence under tensile deformation while preserving, or ...

Removal of Bisphenol S from Aqueous Solution using Activated Carbon Derived from Rambutan Peel via Microwave Irradiation Technique

open access: yesSains Malaysiana, 2022
Bisphenol S (BPS) was introduced to replace Bisphenol A (BPA) in plastic production. Unfortunately, recent studies have shown that BPS is toxic. This study explores the conversion of rambutan peel into rambutan peel-based activated carbon (RPAC) via the ...
