Bilateral Staphylomas Presenting as Bitemporal Hemianopia

Neuroradiology Journal, 2007
Bitemporal hemianopia is usually secondary to pituitary and suprasellar masses. We present a case of bitemporal hemianopia secondary to bilateral staphylomas of the ocular globe. Staphylomas are degenerative outpouchings of the eyeball also known as scleral ectasia, secondary to congenital weakness of scleral tissue. Staphylomas can cause complications

Bitemporal Hemianopia Caused By Bilateral Blepharoptosis

Orbit, 2010
A 49-year-old woman underwent Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) testing to evaluate a complaint of peripheral visual field loss. The HVF demonstrated a bitemporal hemianopia. Magnetic resonance imaging of the optic chiasm was normal. The visual field defect was shown to resolve on repeat testing after raising the upper eyelids with tape.

Bitemporal Hemianopia Secondary to Acute Zonal Occult Outer Retinopathy

open access: yesJournal of Neuro-Ophthalmology, 2021
Abstract: A 58-year-old man noticed shadows in the temporal visual field of each eye and photopsias within these scotomas for the past year. Formal visual fields demonstrated bitemporal hemianopia. MRI of the sella was normal, but fundus autofluorescence (FAF) demonstrated an area of hyperautofluorescence in the nasal retina of each eye ...

Ethambutol Chiasmal Toxicity with Bitemporal Hemianopia

Seminars in Ophthalmology, 2009
Ethambutol is a well recognized antimicrobial agent used as a first line agent in the treatment of tuberculosis. Optic neuropathy is a known complication of ethambutol therapy. Rarely, chiasmal ethambutol toxicity may manifest as a bitemporal visual field deficit. We report an additional case of ethambutol chiasmal toxicity with a bitemporal hemianopia.

Bitemporal hemianopia arising from a suprasellar craniopharyngioma

Optometry - Journal of the American Optometric Association, 2009
Craniopharyngiomas are uncommon intracranial tumors that arise from remnants of the embryonic craniopharyngeal duct. Although benign in nature, craniopharyngiomas can contribute to significant morbidity. When located near critical structures such as the optic chiasm, pituitary, and hypothalamus, craniopharyngiomas have the potential to cause severe ...
