Roles of Various Bitumen Components in the Stability of Water-in-Diluted-Bitumen Emulsions
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1999An experimental study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the various components of Athabasca bitumen in stabilizing water-in-diluted-bitumen emulsions. The solvent used to dilute the very viscous bitumen was a mixture of 50:50 by volume of hexane and toluene.

ATOMIZATION CHARACTERISTICS OF BITUMEN CRUDE-WATER EMULSION
Atomization and Sprays, 1998Measurements of the angular patterns of scattered light were carried out on sprays of an emulsion of bitumen crude (70% by weight) in water produced by a home-built air-assisted atomizer at different air flow rates. The size distribution of the bitumen droplets was previously measured by optical microscopy.

[On bitumen emulsions in water].
Acta cientifica venezolana, 2005The most important factors, controlling the process of emulsification of highly viscous hydrocarbons in water, which are responsible for keeping the stability and other properties of these systems, are discused in this article. The effect of non-ionic surfactants, such as nonil phenol ethoxilated compounds on the interfacial behavior of bitumen/water ...

Preparation And Inversion of Bitumen-Water Emulsions
Technical Meeting / Petroleum Conference of The South Saskatchewan Section, 1995Abstract The preparation and inversion of relatively large droplet Athabasca Bitumen-in-water emulsions have been examined experimentally, The emulsions were prepared using small quantities of NaOH, followed by cooling to 20 ° C.

The factors affecting on Bitumen Emulsion properties
2010 International Conference on Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, 2010Need to proper roads and highways will increase with increasing automotive industry and development of cities and countries. Among petroleum products used in road construction and asphalt application for soil stability and adhesion between layers of asphalt are bitumen soluble and Bitumen Emulsions.

Comparative Study on Properties of Bitumen Hot Mix and Bitumen Emulsion Mix
Zorig Melong | A Technical Journal of Science, Engineering and Technology, 2015This study involves the preparation of mix samples of bitumen hot mix and bitumen emulsion mix (cold mix) by adopting the Marshall Method procedure. The method utilizes the evaluation of penetration and softening temperature of bitumen 80/100 grade as a standard.

The effect of naphtha to bitumen ratio on properties of water in diluted bitumen emulsions
Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2002Abstract Properties of water in naphtha-diluted bitumen emulsion depend on naphtha to bitumen ratio. There is a critical dilution ratio, at which the system properties change abruptly. The critical dilution ratio coincides with an onset of asphaltene precipitation. The critical diluted ratio for the bitumen and naphtha used in this study is 4.

Imaging techniques applied to characterize bitumen and bituminous emulsions
Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2008The purpose of this article is to present some important advances in the imaging techniques currently used in the characterization of bitumen and bituminous emulsions. Bitumen exhibits some properties, such as a black colour and a reflecting surface at rest, which permit the use of optical techniques to study the macroscopic behaviour of asphalt mixes ...

Study of the electrical properties of cationic bitumen emulsions by microelectrophoresis
Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2004We investigate in the present work, the effects of the emulsifier nature and content on the aqueous phase viscosity and on the zeta potential of cationic bitumen emulsions, in the pH range 2-13. The bitumen in water emulsions was prepared at pH values in the range 2-2.4 and in the presence of complementary emulsifiers' pair made of protonated amine 70 ...
