Settlement of Macoma balthica larvae in response to benthic diatom films [PDF]
The role of multi-species benthic diatom films (BDF) in the settlement of late pediveliger larvae of the bivalve Macoma balthica was investigated in still-water bioassays and multiple choice flume experiments.

Non‐native pink salmon Oncorhynchus gorbuscha carcasses benefit native benthic macroinvertebrates
Abstract The invasion of the North Atlantic by pink salmon Oncorhynchus gorbuscha has raised concerns regarding their impact on coastal rivers. Although the influence of marine‐derived nutrients from returning adult O. gorbuscha on rivers in their native range has received much attention, the ecological consequences of invasive O.

Fossil finds from three Middle Miocene sites in Poland reveal the northernmost known presence of trionychid turtles in Europe, tentatively identified as Trionyx cf. vindobonensis, suggesting a warmer climate that supported thermophilic species in Central Europe during this period. Abstract Modern trionychids (Testudines, Cryptodira) have a pan‐tropical
