Ecosystem‐Centered Robot Design: Toward Ecoresorbable Sustainability Robots (ESRs)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Robots exploring natural ecosystems can support monitoring and conservation, but must adopt ecosystem‐centered design to avoid pollution, waste, and damage. This review proposes guidelines for co‐designing ecoresorbable sustainability robots (ESRs), uniting materials, robotics, and ecological contexts in a single framework.

Ecological review of black-grass (Alopecurus myosuroides Huds.) propagation abilities in relationship with herbicide resistance [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 2012
Alopecurus myosuroides Huds. (black-grass) has always been a major concern for cereal growers, and the development of herbicide resistance does not improve the situation.

Safener responsiveness and multiple herbicide resistance in the weed black‐grass (Alopecurus myosuroides) [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, 2009
SummarySafeners enhance the selectivity of graminicidal herbicides such as fenoxaprop ethyl in cereals, by increasing their rates of detoxification in the crop. While studying the selectivity of fenoxaprop ethyl in wheat, we determined that the safeners mefenpyr diethyl and fenchlorazole ethyl also enhanced herbicide tolerance in the competing weed ...

Plant Robotics for Sustainable and Environmentally Friendly Robots: Insights from Actuation Characteristics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plants are promising materials for building sustainable and eco‐friendly robots due to their inherent multifunctionality, with actuation playing a crucial role. This article focuses on the physical movements of plants and, from the perspective of actuation characteristics, explores representative plant species and their behaviors, the current state of ...

Three Dimensional Printing of Bioinspired Composite Aerogels for Solar Steam Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Freshwater scarcity demands efficient purification strategies. Inspired by desert grasses, reduced graphene oxide‐doped polyacrylamide aerogels with longitudinal grooves are fabricated via high‐speed three‐dimensional printing and freeze‐drying. The biomimetic design enables dual‐mode water transport, achieving a capillary flow of 2.16 cm in 10 minutes

Detection of accase target-site resistant Alopecurus myosuroides huds (black-grass) in Belgian populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Black-grass is a common grass weed, widely spread in Northern Europe and also in Belgium. For ages, it has been an increasing problem in industrial crops, especially winter cereals.

Distribution, detection and genetic background of herbicide-resistant Alopecurus myosuroides (Huds.) in Germany [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Weed control is an important part in agricultural practice. Since selective herbicides were introduced, the labour-intensive mechanical weed control was replaced by chemicals.

The Impacts of Health and Environmental Information Nudges on Meat Choices: Where Does Goat Meat Fit?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Amidst a recent surge in US goat meat imports to meet growing demand, this study contributes to the meat demand literature by examining consumer preferences for goat meat, a relatively healthy and environmentally friendly alternative to other popular meats.

Investigation of glutathione transferases at the gene regulation level in flufenacet resistant black-grass populations (Alopecurus myosuroides Huds.)

open access: yesJulius-Kühn-Archiv, 2022
The herbicide flufenacet, applied in pre-emergence, acts as an inhibitor of the synthesis of very long-chain fatty acids (HRAC group 15) and is an important component in the control of grasses in winter cereals, especially when resistance to other ...
