This chapter is devoted to some physical properties of black holes, including a discussion of their thermodynamics, black hole laws, quantum effects, black hole magnetospheres, interiors, and singularities. The chapter opens with a discussion on the formation of black holes in astrophysical environments.

Superradiance in Black Hole Physics
2015As discussed in the previous section, superradiance requires dissipation. The latter can emerge in various forms, e.g. viscosity, friction, turbulence, radiative cooling, etc. All these forms of dissipation are associated with some medium or some matter field that provides the arena for superradiance.

Two-dimensional black hole physics
Physical Review D, 1992Two-dimensional black hole solutions of string-motivated two-dimensional (2D) gravity are studied. It is shown that the main results of 4D black hole physics (such as the uniqueness theorems, mass formulas, and thermodynamical analogy) have their counterparts in the 2D case. The existence of static solutions describing black holes with tachyon hairs is

General relativity predicts the existence of Black Holes. A Black Hole (BH) is a region of space into which matter has collapsed and out of which not even light may escape and hence the term “black”. It partitions space into an inner region which is bounded by a surface, referred to as the event horizon, which acts as a one way surface for light going ...

Near-horizon Black Hole Physics
2022This thesis studies the near-horizon black hole physics in depth from three perspectives. An important tool for studying perturbations of black hole spacetime is the linearized Einstein equations (LEE). In the Kerr spacetime, the variables in LEE do not separate, which poses a lot of difficulties to obtaining analytical solutions.
