Throat quantization of the Schwarzschild-Tangherlini(-AdS) black hole
By the throat quantization pioneered by Louko and Mäkelä, we derive the mass and area/entropy spectra for the Schwarzschild-Tangherlini-type asymptotically flat or AdS vacuum black hole in arbitrary dimensions. Using the WKB approximation for black holes

Microcanonical Description of (Micro) Black Holes
The microcanonical ensemble is the proper ensemble to describe black holes which are not in thermodynamic equilibrium, such as radiating black holes.

Production and evaporation of higher dimensional black holes
This thesis is a study of the theory and phenomenology of trans-Planckian black holes, in TeV gravity extra-dimensional theories. The introduction starts with the motivation for this beyond the Standard Model scenario (chapter 1), a summary of the ...

Mesoblends consist of a nanostructured polymer into which a second polymer is imbibed with a selective solvent. In this work, a solvent‐templatable pentablock terpolymer possessing a sulfonated midblock is modified with a hydrophilic polymer that is photocrosslinked in situ, yielding a hierarchical binetwork.

We show that collisions between particles free falling from infinity and a disk of material plunging off the retrograde innermost stable circular orbit of a near-extremal Kerr black hole is the unique astronomically natural way in which to create a gravitational particle accelerator with center of mass energies at the tens to hundreds of ...

The weak cosmic censorship conjecture in hairy Kerr black holes
The weak cosmic censorship conjecture, since its proposal, has always been a controversial hypothesis, but its significance in astrophysics is undeniable.

Strong gravitational lensing effects around rotating regular black holes
In this letter, we investigate the strong gravitational lensing effects around two classes of rotating regular black holes, which behave as non-singular Minkowski core at the center.

Unraveling the Electronic Structure of Silicon Vacancy Centers in 4H‐SiC
The electronic structure of the silicon vacancy in 4H‐SiC is probed via transient absorption spectroscopy, uncovering previously inaccessible excited states of the quartet and doublet spin channels, including the V2' transition. In combination with theoretical analysis, a comprehensive picture of the electronic structure is established.

Photon Shells, Black Hole Shadows, and Accretion Toroids
We analyze the properties of the Kerr black hole (BH) photon shell, focusing on the influence of aggregates of corotating and counterrotating toroids (ringed accretion disks, hereafter RAD), orbiting in the BH photon shell (photon shell “obscuration ...
