Black Holes from Branes: Various string theoretical constructions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
In this dissertation we have studied black holes from various perspectives in string theory. One common theme of all the black holes that we have studied, is that they are constructed from branes.

Rotating Einstein-Maxwell black holes in odd dimensions

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
To construct higher-dimensional counterparts of the Kerr-Newman black holes, we consider Einstein’s equations sourced by a vector field and a negative cosmological constant.

State-Space Geometry, Statistical Fluctuations, and Black Holes in String Theory

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2014
We study the state-space geometry of various extremal and nonextremal black holes in string theory. From the notion of the intrinsic geometry, we offer a state-space perspective to the black hole vacuum fluctuations.

On Black Holes In String Theory

open access: yes, 1991
In these lecture notes from Strings `91, I briefly sketch the analogy between two dimensional black holes and the s-wave sector of four dimensional black holes, and the physical interest of the latter, particularly in the magnetically charged case.

Black Holes in String Theory

open access: yes, 1996
This thesis is devoted to trying to find a microscopic quantum description of black holes. We consider black holes in string theory which is a quantum theory of gravity. We find that the ``area law'' black hole entropy for extremal and near-extremal charged black holes arises from counting microscopic configurations.

Locality and causality properties of light cone string field theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The recent discovery of a new maximally supersymmetric background for the type IIB superstring theory has revived the interest in light cone string field theory.

Aspects of compactifications and black holes in four-dimensional supergravity

open access: yes, 2010
In the 20th century, theoretical physics has seen the development of General Relativity and the Standard Model of elementary particles. These theories describe, with great precision, gravity and all known matter, respectively. However, it is not possible

Black holes and vacua in string theory: A non-supersymmetric study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
During the past few decades, an important part of the understanding of gravity in the context of string theory has relied on gravitational configurations that enjoy supersymmetry. Despite the knowledge retrieved under supersymmetry, we still do not fully

Generalized Freudenthal duality for rotating extremal black holes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Freudenthal duality (FD) is a non-linear symmetry of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of extremal dyonic black holes (BHs) in Maxwell-Einstein-scalar theories in four space-time dimensions realized as an anti-involutive map in the symplectic space of ...
