Black holes in string theory with duality twists [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We consider 5D supersymmetric black holes in string theory compactifications that partially break supersymmetry. We compactify type IIB on T4 and then further compactify on a circle with a duality twist to give Minkowski vacua preserving partial ...

Charged black holes in string theory

Physical Review D, 1991
A family of solutions to low-energy string theory representing static, spherically symmetric charged black holes is described. They are labeled by their mass, charge, and asymptotic value of the scalar dilaton. The presence of the dilaton is found to have important consequences.

String theory and black holes

Physical Review D, 1991
Summary: An exact conformal field theory describing a black hole in two-dimensional spacetime is found as an \(\text{SL}(2,{\mathbf R})/\text{U}(1)\) gauged Wess-Zumino-Witten model. For \(k=\frac 94\), the conformal field theory can be regarded as a classical solution of the same system that is probed in the \(c=1\) matrix model.

Black Holes in String Theory

2013
These lectures notes provide a fast-track introduction to modern developments in black hole physics within string theory, including microscopic computations of the black hole entropy as well as construction and quantization of microstates using supergravity.

Black Holes in String Theory

2007
This is a set of introductory lecture notes on black holes in string theory. After reviewing some aspects of string theory such as dualities, brane solutions, supersymmetric and non-extremal intersection rules, we analyze in detail extremal and non-extremal 5d black holes. We first present the D-brane counting for extremal black holes.

BLACK HOLES, INFORMATION PUZZLE AND STRING THEORY

International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2000
We briefly review developments in string theory which explain the information puzzle that arises in the applications of quantum mechanics to black holes.
