Black holes in string theory with duality twists [PDF]
We consider 5D supersymmetric black holes in string theory compactifications that partially break supersymmetry. We compactify type IIB on T4 and then further compactify on a circle with a duality twist to give Minkowski vacua preserving partial ...

Charged black holes in string theory
Physical Review D, 1991A family of solutions to low-energy string theory representing static, spherically symmetric charged black holes is described. They are labeled by their mass, charge, and asymptotic value of the scalar dilaton. The presence of the dilaton is found to have important consequences.

Summary: An exact conformal field theory describing a black hole in two-dimensional spacetime is found as an \(\text{SL}(2,{\mathbf R})/\text{U}(1)\) gauged Wess-Zumino-Witten model. For \(k=\frac 94\), the conformal field theory can be regarded as a classical solution of the same system that is probed in the \(c=1\) matrix model.

This is a set of introductory lecture notes on black holes in string theory. After reviewing some aspects of string theory such as dualities, brane solutions, supersymmetric and non-extremal intersection rules, we analyze in detail extremal and non-extremal 5d black holes. We first present the D-brane counting for extremal black holes.
