On the nonexistence of a vacuum black lens
We demonstrate that five-dimensional, asymptotically flat, stationary and bi-axisymmetric, vacuum black holes with lens space L(n, 1) topology, possessing the simplest rod structure, do not exist.

Asymptotic quasinormal modes of string-theoretical d-dimensional black holes
We compute the quasinormal frequencies of d-dimensional spherically symmetric black holes with leading string α′ corrections for tensorial gravitational perturbations in the highly damped regime.

Extremal black holes, Stueckelberg scalars and phase transitions
We calculate the entropy of a static extremal black hole in 4D gravity, non-linearly coupled to a massive Stueckelberg scalar. We find that the scalar field does not allow the black hole to be magnetically charged.

(Non-adiabatic) string creation on nice slices in Schwarzschild black holes
Nice slices have played a pivotal role in the discussion of the black hole information paradox as they avoid regions of strong spacetime curvature and yet smoothly cut through the infalling matter and the outgoing Hawking radiation, thus, justifying the ...

Signatures of black holes in string theory [PDF]
The effect of string theory on the four-dimensional classical Einstein equations is investigated. It is shown that the throats of nonrotating charged black holes are exact solutions of the gravitational field equations with string correction terms.

Ultra-spinning Chow’s black holes in six-dimensional gauged supergravity and their properties
By taking the ultra-spinning limit as a simple solution-generating trick, a novel class of ultra-spinning charged black hole solutions has been constructed from Chow’s rotating charged black hole with two equal-charge parameters in six-dimensional N ...

Emergence and correspondence for string theory black holes [PDF]
This is one of a pair of papers that give a historical-\emph{cum}-philosophical analysis of the endeavour to understand black hole entropy as a statistical mechanical entropy obtained by counting string-theoretic microstates. Both papers focus on Andrew Strominger and Cumrun Vafa's ground-breaking 1996 calculation, which analysed the black hole in ...

Entropy and String Black Hole Correspondence [PDF]
We make some observations regarding string/black hole correspondence with a view to understanding the nature of the quantum degrees of freedom of a black hole in string theory. In particular, we compare entropy change in analogous string and black hole processes in order to support the interpretation of the area law entropy as arising from stringy ...

State-space Manifold and Rotating Black Holes [PDF]
We study a class of fluctuating higher dimensional black hole configurations obtained in string theory/ $M$-theory compactifications. We explore the intrinsic Riemannian geometric nature of Gaussian fluctuations arising from the Hessian of the coarse ...

Dynamically and thermodynamically stable black holes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity
We consider Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with the non-minimal exponential coupling between the dilaton and the Maxwell field emerging from low energy heterotic string theory.
