Islands in linear dilaton black holes
We derive a novel four-dimensional black hole with planar horizon that asymptotes to the linear dilaton background. The usual growth of its entanglement entropy before Page’s time is established.

From black strings to fundamental strings: non-uniformity and phase transitions
We discuss the transition between black strings and fundamental strings in the presence of a compact dimension, S z 1 $$ {\mathbbm{S}}_z^1 $$ . In particular, we study the Horowitz-Polchinski effective field theory in ℝ d × S z 1 $$ {\mathbb{R}}^d\times {

HAWKING RADIATION IN STRING THEORY AND THE STRING PHASE OF BLACK HOLES [PDF]
The quantum string emission by Black Holes is computed in the framework of the `string analogue model' (or thermodynamical approach), which is well suited to combine QFT and string theory in curved backgrounds (particulary here, as black holes and strings posses intrinsic thermal features and temperatures).

Cosmic necklaces in string theory and field theory [PDF]
PhDIn this thesis we investigate astrophysical phenomena which arise in models with compact extra dimensions, focussing on the cosmological consequences of strings which wrap cycles in the internal space. Embedding our strings in the Klebanov-Strassler

Black Hole Emission in String Theory and the String Phase of Black Holes [PDF]
String theory properly describes black-hole evaporation. The quantum string emission by Black Holes is computed. The black-hole temperature is the Hawking temperature in the semiclassical quantum field theory (QFT) regime and becomes the intrinsic string temperature, T_s, in the quantum (last stage) string regime.

String condensation: nemesis of black holes? [PDF]
This paper puts forward a conjecture that there are no black holes in M theory. We will show that a mechanism to prevent black hole formation is needed in 4 dimensions to make string theory a viable high energy model of quantum gravity.
