Phases of string stars in the presence of a spatial circle
In string theory, black holes are expected to transition into string stars as their Hawking temperatures approach the Hagedorn temperature. We study string stars and their phase transitions in the Euclidean spacetime ℝ d × S τ 1 $$ {\mathbbm{S}}_{\tau}^1

Supergravity, string theory and black holes
In this thesis we study a large class of three-charge solutions of supergravity in various dimensions and duality frames. The solutions have the same asymptotic structure, supersymmetry and conserved charges as black holes and black rings with macroscopic horizons and finite entropy.

Fermion perturbations in string theory black holes [PDF]
In this paper we study fermion perturbations in four dimensional black holes of string theory, obtained either from a non-extreme configuration of three intersecting five-branes with a boost along the common string or from a non-extreme intersecting system of two two-branes and two five-branes.

Our understanding of the recolonization of northwest Europe in the period leading up to the Lateglacial Interstadial relies heavily on discoveries from Gough's Cave (Somerset, UK). Gough's Cave is the richest Late Upper Palaeolithic site in the British Isles, yielding an exceptional array of human remains, stone and organic artefacts, and butchered ...

Microstates of non-extremal black holes: a new hope
We provide a new roadmap for constructing microstates of non-extremal black holes in supergravity. First, we review the non-linear sigma model of five-dimensional supergravity governing stationary solutions with a U(1) isometry and present the first ...

Abstract Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology was evaluated as a method for electronically tracking human remains and associated identifying information during mass fatality incidents. Conventional tags are prone to physical damage and failure, which can compromise identification processes and hinder the repatriation of bodies.

Phase transitions of magnetic AdS4 black holes with scalar hair [PDF]
We determine the thermodynamic properties of a class of spherically symmetric and static black holes in AdS4 with magnetic charges and scalar hair.

We construct, for the first time, new static non-extremal five-dimensional black hole solutions (without or with squashed horizons) endowing with four different electric charge parameters in the D = 5, N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 2 supergravity coupled to ...
