The String Landscape, Black Holes and Gravity as the Weakest Force
We conjecture a general upper bound on the strength of gravity relative to gauge forces in quantum gravity. This implies, in particular, that in a four-dimensional theory with gravity and a U(1) gauge field with gauge coupling g, there is a new ...

Generalized Freudenthal duality for rotating extremal black holes
Freudenthal duality (FD) is a non-linear symmetry of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of extremal dyonic black holes (BHs) in Maxwell-Einstein-scalar theories in four space-time dimensions realized as an anti-involutive map in the symplectic space of ...

State-space Geometry, Statistical Fluctuations and Black Holes in String Theory
We study the state-space geometry of various extremal and nonextremal black holes in string theory. From the notion of the intrinsic geometry, we offer a new perspective of black hole vacuum fluctuations.

Remark on black hole entropy in string theory [PDF]
We extend the string-theoretic calculation of black hole entropy, first performed by Susskind and Uglum, away from the infinite mass limit. It is shown that the result agrees with that obtained from the classical action of string theory, using the Noether charge method developed by Wald.

Resolving the Structure of Black Holes: Philosophizing with a Hammer [PDF]
We give a broad conceptual review of what we have learned about black holes and their microstate structure from the study of microstate geometries and their string theory limits.

Charged AdS black holes in presence of string cloud and Cardy-Verlinde formula
In this study, charged AdS black holes with a string cloud are taken into consideration. We identify three distinct black hole solutions within a specific temperature range, which subsequently merge into a single black hole beyond this range in the case ...

Trapped string states in AdS5 black hole geometry: a path toward Hawking radiation
We investigate the quantum dynamics of a closed bosonic string in the curved spacetime of an AdS5-Schwarzschild black hole. Starting from the Polyakov action, we perform a canonical quantization of the string and formulate its quantum mechanical equation

Gravitational waves in the Myers-Perry geometry
We analyze equations describing gravitational waves in the Myers-Perry and Gibbons-Lu-Page-Pope geometries with arbitrary rotation parameters. Assuming that at least one rotation parameter vanishes, we demonstrate full separability of equations for ...
