"Charged" Particle's Tunneling from Rotating Black Holes

open access: yes, 2011
The behavior of a scalar field theory near the event horizon in a rotating black hole background can be effectively described by a two dimensional field theory in a gauge field background.

Cognitive Functioning in Vorinostat‐Treated Pediatric and Young Adult Patients Over the First 180 Days After Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Cognitive and psychological difficulties could negatively interfere with treatment adherence and quality of life before and after hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). Methods to mitigate these changes may have positive effects on treatment success.

Non-linear perturbation of black branes at large $D$

open access: yes, 2017
The Einstein equations describing the black-brane dynamics both in Minkowski and AdS background were recently recast in the form of coupled diffusion equations in the large-$D$(imension) limit.

Exact black hole solutions in shift symmetric scalar-tensor theories [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We derive a variety of exact black hole solutions in a subclass of Horndeski's scalar-tensor theory possessing shift symmetry, $\phi\to\phi+c$, and reflection symmetry, $\phi\to-\phi$. The theory admits two arbitrary functions of $X:=-(\partial\phi)^2/2$,

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Black Romanticism: Slovak Case. Reconnaissance [PDF]

open access: yesSlovenska Literatura, 2013
The interest in Black Romanticism has been experiencing a kind of renaissance in the last years. Black Romanticism is no longer seen as just one of the Romantic movements.

Understanding the Experiences of Black Women Medical Students and Residents: A Narrative Review

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health, 2022
BackgroundFew research studies examine medical students and residents with intersectional identities. In the emerging literature, data on Black women's experiences may be misrepresented and misinterpreted as studies aggregate data for women, students of ...

AGN Black Hole Masses and Bolometric Luminosities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Black hole mass, along with mass accretion rate, is a fundamental property of active galactic nuclei. Black hole mass sets an approximate upper limit to AGN energetics via the Eddington limit. We collect and compare all AGN black hole mass estimates from

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
