Identification of Vibrio Infections in Cultured Sea Bass and Rainbow Trout in the Black Sea

open access: yesJournal of Anatolian Environmental and Animal Sciences
In this study, the identification of Vibrio isolates isolated from vibriosis infection of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) cultured in the Black Sea was carried out using conventional biochemical tests and PCR methods.

Scaling of post-contractile phosphocreatine recovery in white muscle of black sea bass, Centropristis striata [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
During somatic growth, increases in fish muscle mass occur both by hyperplasia and hypertrophy, and in some species the hypertrophic phase of growth leads to very large fiber diameters.

Growth performance, feed utilization, and resistance to acute crowding of post‐metamorphic stage black sea bass Centropristis striata reared at high stocking densities in a pilot recirculating nursery

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society
A reliable and cost‐effective source of fingerlings is essential for the successful commercial aquaculture of black sea bass. This study aimed to determine the effects of nursery tank stocking densities on the growth performance, feed efficiency ...

Growth survival and resistance to hypersaline stress in larval black sea bass (Centropristis striata) fed varying levels of dietary arachidonic acid (20:4n-6) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Significant advances have been made in controlled breeding and knowledge of environmental requirements for culture of larval black sea bass (Centropristis striata), but there still is relatively little published data on the nutritional requirements of ...

Quantification of Environmental DNA (eDNA) shedding and decay rates for three commercially harvested fish species and comparison between eDNA detection and trawl catches

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, 2021
Stock assessments are critical to inform decisions for sustainable fisheries management. Environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis is a potential tool for assessing fish biomass and populations to aid in stock assessments. To facilitate modeling of biomass based

Artificial structure selection by economically important reef fishes at North Carolina artificial reefs

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Artificial reefs can play an important role in marine fisheries management by supplementing or enhancing natural habitats. Despite their increased use in recent years, the choice of structures used at artificial reefs remains largely haphazard due to the
