Distribution of Pseudocercospora species causing Sigatoka leaf diseases of banana in Uganda and Tanzania

open access: yesPlant Pathology, 2020
Sigatoka leaf diseases are a major constraint to banana production. A survey was conducted in Tanzania and Uganda to assess the distribution of Pseudocercospora species and severity of Sigatoka leaf diseases.

Plant extracts as potential control agents of Black Sigatoka in banana

Journal of Plant Pathology, 2022
Aqueous extracts of Cinnamomum zeylanicum, Capsicum annuum and Azadirachta indica were tested for efficacy for management of Pseudocercospora fijiensis in banana (Musa spp.) when applied as foliar sprays. Extracts of C. annuum and A.indica demonstrated fungicidal effects in vitro, without showing phytotoxic effects.

Identification and Assessment of Black Sigatoka Disease in Banana Leaf

2020
Detecting a disease in plants is one of the challenging works. Identifying the disease through naked eyes is difficult. India is famous for agriculture. There were no modern techniques used in machine learning to find disease in banana leaf. Diseases like bacterial wilt and Black Sigatoka in banana leaf cause massive loss to the farmers.

FAO RESPONSE TO THE BLACK SIGATOKA DISEASE PROBLEM IN THE CARIBBEAN

2013
Black Sigatoka disease (BSD), caused by Mycosphaerella fijiensis, is considered to be the most widespread and destructive disease of banana. The first outbreak in the Caribbean occurred in Cuba in 1991, and subsequently spread throughout the region. In all affected countries, BSD has had serious economic, social and environmental impact, causing yields

Control Model of Banana Black Sigatoka Disease with Seasonality

Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems
The main objective of this paper is to present a mathematical model of pathogen-host interactions of Banana Black Sigatoka Disease that incorporates mating limitation and three control strategies to reduce disease incidence, namely the use of resistant plants, the use of systemic fungicides, and the use of cultural management.

Systems-based management of black Sigatoka in the french west Indies

Acorbat Revista de Tecnología y Ciencia/Acorbat Journal of Technology and Science
The agroecological transition undertaken by the French banana sector in recent years has compelled research to explore innovative strategies for managing black leaf streak disease (black Sigatoka) in banana. This study adopted a systems-based approach combining several agronomic levers likely to influence banana immunity, namely cultivar choice ...
