An improved damping adaptive grid‐forming control for black start of permanent magnet synchronous generator wind turbines supported with battery energy storage system

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2023
Permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSGs) equipped with back‐to‐back grid‐forming converters have the ability to form a 100% renewable energy power grid.

Exact formation of hairy planar black holes

open access: yes, 2016
We consider Einstein gravity minimally coupled to a scalar field with a given potential in general dimensions. We obtain large classes of static hairy planar black holes which are asymptotic to AdS space-times. In particular, for a special case $\mu=(n-2)

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Study of power and voltage delivery after successfully black-start

open access: yesJurnal Ilmiah SINERGI, 2022
Efforts to maintain the continuity of electricity distribution to customers and reduce the amount of Energy Not Distributed (END) are to speed up the recovery process due to disturbances in the electricity distribution system, especially blackouts.

Growing massive black holes through super-critical accretion of stellar-mass seeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The rapid assembly of the massive black holes that power the luminous quasars observed at $z \sim 6-7$ remains a puzzle. Various direct collapse models have been proposed to head-start black hole growth from initial seeds with masses $\sim 10^5\,\rm M_ ...

Application of SMES Unit in Black Start

open access: yesPhysics Procedia, 2014
AbstractBlackout of large area is a serious threat to modern power system, so power system restoration which is called Black Start is a critical task for reducing economic losses and social unrest caused by blackout. Traditiona black start sometimes may suffer from inflexible black start units and overvoltage and serious oscillation. As a power storage

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Recovery Strategies for Combined Optical Storage Systems Based on System Short-Circuit Ratio (SCR) Thresholds

open access: yesEnergies
The penetration rate of variable energy sources in the current power grid is increasing, with the aim being to expand the use of these energy sources and to replace the traditional black start power supply.

MPC-Based Black Start and Restoration for Resilient DER-Rich Electric Distribution System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
For past several years the resiliency of the power grid is severely challenged by extreme events. Black start and restoration scheme (BS&RS) is critical to enhance distribution grid resiliency.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
