Repeatability and genetic dissimilarity using biometric characteristics of black wattle seeds
Selecting superior individuals requires a careful genetic evaluation. For this reason, repeated measurements of biometrical characteristics need to be carried out in the same individual. The repeatability of the measurements is represented in the repeatability coefficient.

Sexual and social functions of ornamental wing feathers in Black Swans (Cygnus atratus)
Studies on the evolution of ornamentation have traditionally focused on sexual selection, although ornaments may also signal an individual's quality in non‐sexual contexts. Using wild‐captured Black Swans Cygnus atratus, we conducted two‐way association trials to study how a putative mutual ornament (curled wing feathers) influenced swans' intersexual ...

Abstract Eucalyptus trees (ETs) cover approximately 20 million ha globally, with Brazil leading at 5.6 million ha. In Africa, ET plantations span around 1.5 million ha, primarily in South Africa and Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, ET plays a key role in agroforestry, covering 506,000 ha, which represents 90% of all planted trees in the form of woodlots.

Moose Survival and Habitat‐Associated Risk of Endoparasites
We observed high rates of adult and calf moose survival in New York State, with mortality primarily due to disease associated with giant liver fluke infections. Calf mortality risk increased with increasing use of wetlands, where they can acquire giant liver fluke infections, and decreased with higher amounts of nutritional energy available.

28 years of vegetation change (1978 – 2006) in a calcareous coastal dune system [PDF]
Changes in vegetation structure and composition over a 28 year period (1978–2006) following removal of human-induced disturbances, were examined in a calcareous coastal dune system in Point Nepean National Park (380 19’S, 1440 41’E) in south-eastern ...

ABSTRACT Biological invasions are one of the major drivers of biodiversity decline and have been shown to have far‐reaching consequences for society and the economy. Preventing the introduction and spread of alien species represents the most effective solution to reducing their impacts on nature and human well‐being.
