Stable Quantitative Resistance Loci to Blackleg Disease in Canola (Brassica napus L.) Over Continents

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
The hemibiotrophic fungus, Leptosphaeria maculans is the most devastating pathogen, causing blackleg disease in canola (Brassica napus L). To study the genomic regions involved in quantitative resistance (QR), 259–276 DH lines from Darmor-bzh/Yudal (DYDH)

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

The receptor-like kinase SOBIR1 interacts with Brassica napus LepR3 and is required for Leptosphaeria maculans AvrLm1-triggered immunity

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
The fungus Leptosphaeria maculans (L. maculans) is the causal agent of blackleg disease of canola/oilseed rape (Brassica napus) worldwide. We previously reported cloning of the B.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

“Late” effectors from Leptosphaeria maculans as tools for identifying novel sources of resistance in Brassica napus

open access: yesPlant Direct, 2022
The Dothideomycete Leptosphaeria maculans, causing stem canker (blackleg) of Brassica napus, secretes different cocktails of effectors at specific infection stages.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
