Unique circulating miRNAome signatures captured with distinct molecular states in Lynch syndrome and sporadic colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNA profiles distinguish nonmalignant Lynch syndrome from cancer‐associated Lynch syndrome, sporadic colorectal cancer, and healthy controls. Age‐stratified analysis reveals disease‐specific regulatory states, and a six‐miRNA panel shows concordant separation in an independent colorectal tissue cohort.

Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for

The End of Objector Blackmail? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Courts and commentators have long been concerned with holdout problems in the law. This Article focuses on a holdout problem in class action litigation known as objector “blackmail.” Objector blackmail occurs when individual class members delay the final

Sit-ins Blockades And Lock-ons: Do Protesters Commit Moral Blackmail

open access: yes
Sit-ins, blockades, and lock-ons are common protest tactics. They work partly because continuing the operation or attempting quickly to remove activists risks injuring or killing them. Injuring or killing the activists is morally wrong, so the targets of

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...
