Variable friction secondary seal for face seals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Vibration and stability of a primary seal ring is controlled by a secondary seal system. An inflatable bladder which forms a portion of the secondary seal varies the damping applied to this seal ring.

Delivery of Multifunctional Microspheres via Intravesical Instillation for Bladder Carcinoma: Therapeutic Potential and Mechanistic Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
PCTM microspheres were successfully synthesized using microfluidic and click chemistry techniques. In Vivo and in vitro experiments have shown that PCTM microspheres have obvious targeting, adhesion, membrane penetration and anti‐tumor properties for bladder tumors. The antitumor mechanism of PCTM microspheres is to indirectly induce S‐stage blockage of ...

Ferritin‐Doped Nanoparticles Triggered Tumor‐Specific Darkening for Enhanced Photothermal Tumor Ablation and Immune Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Ferritin‐doped hybrid nanoparticles triggered accurate tumor‐specific hemorrhage for enhanced in situ photothermal therapy and evoked anti‐tumor immunity. Notably, HFn/GA‐Fe specifically induced tumor hemorrhage 12 h after intravenous injection, resulting in visible color darkening. Through photoacoustic imaging, tumor vessels could be clearly observed

The influence of glutathione S-transferases M1 and M3 on the development of bladder cancer [PDF]

open access: yes
Problem: Cigarette smoking is the most important risk factor of transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary bladder. The effect of the glutathione S- transferases M1 (GSTM1) and M3 (GSTM3) on the influence of this risk factor was investigated.

Mutation of the co-chaperone Tsc1 in bladder cancer diminishes Hsp90 acetylation and reduces drug sensitivity and selectivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The molecular chaperone Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is essential for the folding, stability, and activity of several drivers of oncogenesis. Hsp90 inhibitors are currently under clinical evaluation for cancer treatment, however their efficacy is ...

Real‐Time 3D Ultrasound Imaging with an Ultra‐Sparse, Low Power Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a novel, ultra‐sparse ultrasound architecture that paves the way for wearable real‐time 3D imaging. By integrating a unique convolutional array with chirped data acquisition, the system achieves high‐resolution volumetric scans at a fraction of the power and hardware complexity.

Recent Advances in Collective Behaviors of Micro/Nanomotor Swarms

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review describes the driving forces behind collective motion, explores the self‐organization of micro/nano swarms across zero‐dimensional (0D), one‐dimensional (1D), two‐dimensional (2D), and three‐dimensional (3D) spaces, and highlights their potential in drug delivery, environmental monitoring, and smart devices.

Serotonergic System‐Targeted Nucleic Acid Hydrogel Coordinates Excitability Restoration and Circuit Reconstruction for Spinal Cord Injury Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The study reports a DNA/RNA heteroduplex hydrogel (SeroPTEN‐CG) that undergoes DNase‐mediated hydrogel‐to‐nanogel transition for spinal cord injury therapy by targeting the serotonergic system, combining 5‐hydroxytryptamine (5‐HT)‐mediated excitability restoration to reactivate dormant interneurons with phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN)‐targeted ...

Objective Assessment of Rupture Parameters in Intact and Acute Post-Cystorrhaphy Cadaveric Bladders

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Obstetrics & Gynecology
Background: Certain procedures, particularly those used to treat symptoms of bladder pain syndrome/interstitial cystitis (BPS/IC), involve filling the bladder to or over its capacity for visualization and/or relief of symptoms.
