Broadening horizons: Pathogenesis and therapeutics of renal ciliopathies

open access: yesJournal of Cell Communication and Signaling, Volume 20, Issue 3, September 2026.
This review elucidates the molecular mechanisms and aberrant signaling pathways in renal ciliopathies, links genetic heterogeneity to clinical phenotypes, and lays a theoretical basis for prenatal diagnosis and novel therapies. Abstract Renal ciliopathies encompass a spectrum of genetic disorders arising from structural or functional impairments of ...

Evidence on the Relationships Between Total Fat Intake and Health Outcomes Other Than Unhealthy Weight Gain in Adults and Children: A Scoping Review

open access: yesCochrane Evidence Synthesis and Methods, Volume 4, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Global guidance provides evidence‐informed recommendations on total fat intake to prevent unhealthy weight gain in adults and children, however, evidence regarding total fat intake and other health outcomes, particularly non‐communicable diseases (NCDs), also exists.

Calcitonin gene‐related peptide concentration in cerebrospinal fluid and serum in horses affected by trigeminal‐mediated headshaking

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 58, Issue 5, Page 1207-1216, September 2026.
Abstract Background Trigeminal‐mediated headshaking (TMHS) in horses shares clinical features with human trigeminal neuralgia (HTN). Increased levels of the neuropeptide calcitonin gene‐related peptide (CGRP) have been found in the blood and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of HTN patients. Inhibition of CGRP in humans has shown promise for pain relief.
