Development of a Simulation Model for Blade Tip Timing with Uncertainties

open access: yesAerospace
Blades are widely used in the engines of aerospace vehicles, fans of near-space aerostat, and other equipment, and they are the key to completing energy conversion and pressure adjustment of the capsule.

A Review of Failure Modes and Safety Strategies of Lithium‐Ion Batteries from Materials to Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A cascade‐aware framework is presented for lithium‐ion battery safety, linking thermal runaway initiation, acceleration, runaway reaction, and propagation with material‐, cell/pack‐, and system‐level interventions. By integrating failure mechanisms, quantitative safety indicators, and staged interception strategies, this review highlights how safer ...

Optical Windows for Transcranial Brain Imaging in Living Mice: Skull Thinning, Clearing, and Beyond

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Longitudinal, noninvasive in vivo imaging is crucial for studying brain physiology. Advances in transcranial optical windows and multiphoton microscopy have improved imaging depth, but their performance often deteriorates over time. This work investigated various transcranial window approaches and found that skull regrowth limits image quality.

A modal estimation method of rotating blade based on compressed sensing and blade tip timing

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control
Structural modal estimation has consistently remained one of the most crucial areas of research in mechanical vibration analysis and signal processing. It is imperative to accurately monitor the vibration signals of rotor blades and their corresponding ...

The use of eddy current sensors for the measurement of rotor blade tip timing-sensor development and engine testing

open access: yes, 2008
The advent of tip-timing systems makes it possible to assess turbomachinery blade vibration using non-contact systems. Currently, the most widely used systems in industry are optical systems.

The KIF6‐RBP Complex Orchestrates mRNA Transport Required for Sperm Flagellar Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two homozygous deleterious KIF6 variants are identified in unrelated men with impaired sperm motility. Mouse models and multi‐omics analyses reveal that KIF6 cooperates with the RNA‐binding proteins FMRP and FXR1 to deliver mRNAs essential for sperm flagellar assembly, linking disrupted mRNA transport to reduced abundance of key structural and ...

Longitudinal Single‐Axon‐Resolution Imaging of Peripheral Nerve Injury Response in Mice Using an Optical Window Implant

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A minimally invasive optical window enables stable, long‐term imaging of peripheral nerves in vivo at single‐axon resolution. Dynamic processes of degeneration, regeneration, and cellular remodeling are visualized across multiple time scales within the same nerve region, providing a unique platform to study a variety of anatomical and molecular events ...

Real-time bilevel algorithm for blade tip clearance and tip timing estimation in aircraft engines

open access: yesOptics & Laser Technology
An efficient algorithm is presented for determining the arrival and departure timestamps of rotating blades in aircraft engines using fiber-based optical probes. This approach leverages the bistable characteristics of optical waveforms to optimize a state-level estimator, computing arrival and departure times from mid-level crossings.

Time identification method of an optical blade tip timing system based on optical interrogation of surface inscribed microstructure surface features

open access: yes, 2019
An optical blade tip timing scheme is presented and demonstrated experimentally using an optical microstructure surface inscribed on the blade tip. The results show that the method is not sensitive to the fluctuations of light intensity introduced by the

Solution‐Shearing of Highly Smooth Ion‐Gel Thin Films: Facilitating the Deposition of Organic Semiconductors for Ion‐Gated Organic Field Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 6, May 2025.
A straightforward method is introduced to produce ion‐gel films with very low surface roughness by employing a solution‐shearing coating process. These ion‐gel films permit the growth of crystalline thin films of various small molecule organic semiconductor molecules directly on top of the ion‐gel layer, thereby enabling “inverted” small molecule ...
