Development of innovative materials and thermal treatments for DEMO water cooled blanket

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2019
One of the options currently taken into account for the realization of the first DEMO reactor is the “water-cooled lanket”. This option implies an irradiation temperature for the blanket material in the range of 280–350 °C.

Imaging of High‐Risk Neuroblastoma: Recommendations From SIOPEN Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Specialty Committees

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor in early childhood. Its clinical behavior is highly variable, ranging from spontaneous regression to fatal outcome despite intensive treatment. The International Society of Pediatric Oncology Europe Neuroblastoma Group (SIOPEN) Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Specialty Committees ...

The effect of blanket system and port plugs on the harmonic components of error field and optimizing approach investigation

open access: yesNuclear Fusion, 2023
The fusion plasma is sensitive to the penetration of the toroidal mode numbers $n$ harmonic components of the error fields (EFs), and the toroidal mode components of the EFs are closely tied to the toroidal distribution of the magnetic field source.

Performance of Insulating Materials for Future Fusion Blankets [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
In all fusion reactors using the deuterium-tritium fuel cycle, a large fraction (~80%) of the fusion energy will be released as ~14 MeV neutrons. These neutrons must be slowed down in a relatively thick blanket surrounding the plasma and their kinetic energy converted to high temperature heat.

Effects of Cancer Treatment on Somatosensory and Nociceptive Processing in Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Chemotherapy‐induced peripheral neuropathy remains a major complication in pediatric cancer, with disrupted somatosensory and nociceptive processing being a key aspect. This review synthesizes empirical studies on alterations in somatosensory and nociceptive processing in children and adolescents with cancer.

Neural-Network-Based Prediction of Non-Burial Overwintering Material Covering Height for Wine Grapes

open access: yesAgronomy
Grapevines in cold regions are prone to frost damage in winter. Due to its adverse effects on soil structure, plant damage, high operational costs, and limited mechanization feasibility, buried soil overwintering has been gradually replaced by no-burial ...

Fire blanket and intumescent coating materials for failure resistance [PDF]

open access: yesMRS Bulletin, 2021
AbstractThere is major fire safety concern about failure propagation of thermal runaway in multicell lithium-ion batteries. This article overviews the passive fire-protection approach based on thermal insulation by intumescent coating materials and fire blankets for viable failure resistance.

Aerogel Blanket Insulation Materials for Cryogenic Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Aerogel blanket materials for use in thermal insulation systems are now commercially available and implemented by industry. Prototype aerogel blanket materials were presented at the Cryogenic Engineering Conference in 1997 and by 2004 had progressed to ...

Carcinomas and Carcinoid Tumors of the Lungs and Bronchi in Children and Adolescents: The EXPeRT Recommendations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Primary lung carcinomas and bronchial carcinoid tumors (BC) are very rare malignancies in childhood. While typical BC and mucoepidermoid carcinomas are mostly low‐grade, localized tumors with a more favorable prognosis than in adults, necessitating avoidance of overtreatment, adenocarcinomas of the lung are often diagnosed at advanced disease ...
