Testing the use of bomb radiocarbon to date the surface layers of blanket peat [PDF]
The recently formed surface layers of peatlands are archives of past environmental conditions and can have a temporal resolution considerably greater than deeper layers.

Concept of a fast breeder reactor to transmute MAs and LLFPs
The long-term issues of nuclear power systems are the effective use of uranium resources and the reduction of radioactive waste. Important radioactive wastes are minor actinides (MAs: 237Np, 241Am, 243Am, etc.) and long-lived fission products (LLFPs ...

AEROGEL BLANKET INSULATION MATERIALS FOR CRYOGENIC APPLICATIONS [PDF]
Aerogel blanket materials for use in thermal insulation systems are now commercially available and implemented by industry. Prototype aerogel blanket materials were presented at the Cryogenic Engineering Conference in 1997 and by 2004 had progressed to full commercial production by Aspen Aerogels.

Surface quality of products with heterogeneous coatings during mechanical processing
It is shown that when machining products from materials with heterogeneous structure, possibilities of management of a condition of a blanket are significantly limited.

Performance of Insulating Materials for Future Fusion Blankets [PDF]
In all fusion reactors using the deuterium-tritium fuel cycle, a large fraction (~80%) of the fusion energy will be released as ~14 MeV neutrons. These neutrons must be slowed down in a relatively thick blanket surrounding the plasma and their kinetic energy converted to high temperature heat.

When nuclear reactors operate, a fission chain reaction (FCR) of heavy nuclei proceeds. In thermonuclear facilities with magnetic confinement of (DT)-plasma as a result of fusion reaction, along with the energy generation, the neutrons are generated too.
