La urea y micronutrientes foliares en la producción de durazno (Prunus persica B.) cv. Blanquillo en Maya, callejón de Huaylas

open access: yes, 2023
Nitrogen is a main macronutrient that is required by plants due to its effect on the formation of proteins; however, its excess is negative in production, which can be complemented by the availability of micronutrients that are affected by the presence of CaCO3.

A unified framework and terminology for reproductive traits integral to understanding fish population productivity

open access: yesMarine and Coastal Fisheries, Volume 15, Issue 6, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Objective This paper highlights the complexity of marine fish spawner–recruit systems and how they vary across species and ecosystems while providing a universal terminology and framework to evaluate fish reproduction. We emphasize the gonadal development important to assess maturity, fecundity, where and when fish spawn, and transition and ...

Correspondence among multiple methods provides confidence when measuring marine protected area effects for species and assemblages

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 60, Issue 12, Page 2699-2712, December 2023., 2023
While each technique was found to measure similar general trends in marine protected area (MPA) performance over time, we found compelling evidence that the utilization of multiple techniques allows managers to create the most comprehensive, effective and inclusive MPA monitoring regimes.

Dynamic colour change as a signalling tool in bluelined goatfish (Upeneicthtys lineatus)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 13, Issue 8, August 2023., 2023
Bluelined goatfish can dynamically change their body pattern and colour from a neutral white to a dark red banded pattern under 10 s. Goatfish are more likely to adopt a dark red banded pattern when actively feeding. Furthermore, associated fishes spend more time with goatfish displaying the red banding. It is likely bluelined goatfish use rapid colour

Integrating assemblage structure and habitat mapping data into the design of a multispecies reef fish survey

open access: yesMarine and Coastal Fisheries, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Objective Since 2010, three spatially disjunct reef fish video surveys have provided fishery‐independent data critical to the assessment and management of reef fishes in the Gulf of Mexico. Although analytical approaches have recently been developed to integrate data from these surveys into a single measure of relative abundance and size ...

Improving electronic reporting rates in the U.S. recreational fishery for Atlantic Bluefin Tuna

open access: yesNorth American Journal of Fisheries Management, Volume 43, Issue 4, Page 893-907, August 2023., 2023
Abstract Objective In recent years, electronic self‐reporting has emerged as a potentially powerful tool for timely collection of catch and effort data from recreational fisheries. Such approaches are particularly critical given that recreational fisheries contribute significantly to fishing mortality for popular marine fish species in North America ...

Fisheries in a border area of the Moxos Lowlands (Bolivia) after invasion of Arapaima gigas

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 196-210, April 2023., 2023
We characterized fisheries in the area of the port city of Riberalta (upper Madeira River basin) and evaluated the contribution of an invasive species (Arapaima gigas) to the landings. A. gigas represented 57.6% of the overall economic value of fish in the region.

Forage Fish Species Prefer Habitat within Designated Offshore Wind Energy Areas in the U.S. Northeast Shelf Ecosystem

open access: yesMarine and Coastal Fisheries, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2023., 2023
Abstract As the world develops sources of renewable energy, there is an intensifying interest in offshore wind energy production. The Northeast U.S. Continental Shelf (NES) ecosystem has favorable wind dynamics, with active development of wind energy.

Trends in Area of Occurrence and Biomass of Fish and Macroinvertebrates on the Northeast U.S. Shelf Ecosystem

open access: yesMarine and Coastal Fisheries, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Climate change can affect the habitat of marine species and hence their persistence and adaptation. Trends in area of occurrence and population biomass were examined for 177 fish and macroinvertebrates resident to the Northeast U.S. Continental Shelf ecosystem. Samples of these organisms were taken during a time series of research bottom trawl
