Simple Summary The widespread use of insecticides has cause extensive resistance in German cockroach (Blattella germanica) populations globally. Biological control has the potential to mitigate insecticide resistance, and Metarhizium anisopliae, an ...

Microbiome‐mediated chemical communication in insects: Implications for pest management
Microbiome–semiochemical interactions involve the following processes: direct microbial synthesis, host gene regulation, precursor biotransformation, microbiome modulation and indirect ecological signaling. Abstract Insects rely on semiochemicals to regulate aggregation, mating, foraging, and host selection. This review synthesizes evidence that insect‐

Edible Insect Allergens: An Emerging Food Safety Challenge
Allergic responses to edible insects arise via two main pathways: cross‐reactivity with homologous arthropod allergens and primary sensitization to edible insect proteins, both leading to IgE‐mediated immune activation. ABSTRACT Edible insects are increasingly promoted as sustainable protein sources; however, their allergenic potential remains a ...

Biological control is widely used in agriculture but rarely deployed in food manufacturing, where industry acceptability is unexamined. Semi‐structured interviews with 17 food manufacturing professionals across 15 facility contexts in northwest England and north Wales explored views on entomopathogenic fungi, Bacillus thuringiensis and parasitoid wasps.

Abstract The food enzyme cyclomaltodextrin glucanotransferase (1,4‐α‐D‐glucan 4‐α‐D‐[1,4‐α‐D‐glucano]‐transferase, EC 2.4.1.19) is produced with the genetically modified Escherichia coli K12 strain DSM 34229 by Wacker Chemie AG. The genetic modifications did not give rise to safety concerns.

Toxicity of imidacloprid and chlorpyrifos against German cockroaches Blattella germanica [PDF]
Background and Aim: As a mechanical vector of some communicable diseases and a self-adaptive species to human environments, the German cockroach can transmit pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi, to human beings.
