Optical Spectral Variability of Blazars
Journal of Astrophysics and Astronomy, 2014It is well established that blazars show flux variations in the complete electromagnetic (EM) spectrum on all possible time scales ranging from a few tens of minutes to several years. Here, we report the review of optical flux and spectral variability properties of different classes of blazars on IDV and STV time-scales. Our analysis show HSPs are less

Radio and optical variability in blazars
2005We have investigated the statistical properties of the optical and radio monitoring observations and the correlation between the variability in these wavebands for BL Lac objects and OVV quasars. Variations between any two radio bands are well correlated with time lags measured in weeks to months.

Modeling of Multifrequency Variability of Blazars
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2004We model synchrotron and inverse Compton flares in blazars from radio to X‐rays and gamma‐rays. We take into account the internal structure and geometry of the source (energy stratification) caused by particle acceleration at shock wave fronts and synchrotron energy losses.

The optical variability of selected blazars
2008The optical variability of a small number of BL Lacertae objects and OVV quasars have been monitored from 1972 to the present time. Major long term trends in their brightness have been observed with total amplitudes sometimes as large as 5.0 magnitudes detected as in the case of OJ 287.

The Perugia variability monitoring of blazars
2008In fifteen years of optical monitoring performed with the 0.4m automatic imaging telescope (AIT) of the Perugia University Observatory, more than 35000 VRI (and a few B) photometric data points were collected, contributing to get an important database of the multi-band optical history of 37 blazars brighter than V-mag 17.
