Blazed atom grating

Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 2005
We present a method to create a blazed atomic diffraction grating by use of a periodical optical potential. Like its optical counterpart, the blazed atomic diffraction grating distributes intensity into a specific nonzero diffraction order. Total internal reflection of a laser beam coupled to the nanostructured surface of a prism results in transverse ...

Blazed Holographic Gratings

Optica Acta: International Journal of Optics, 1979
Different techniques for blazing holographic diffraction gratings are compared. Sinusoidal, Sheridon and Fourier blaze are treated. The blaze-wavelength-groove-density combinations possible for each of these different methods are presented as regions in the wavelength-groove-density plane.

Anomalous Behavior of Blazed Gratings

Applied Optics, 1972
A numerical integration method based on Kirchhoff's diffraction integral is used to determine the approximate location and shape of so-called anomalies of a blazed grating in both polarizations. Although a scalar theory is used, the phase shift on reflection accounts for the differences in polarization.

Metamaterial Blazed Gratings

CLEO:2011 - Laser Applications to Photonic Applications, 2011
We design, fabricate, and test a graded index diffractive structure based on non-resonant I-beam metamaterials. The measured diffraction spectrum is in good agreement with simulation, and suggests a path toward metamaterial based diffractive optics.

Blaze characteristics of echelle gratings

Applied Optics, 1982
A new model for the blaze function of the two in-plane mountings of echelle gratings is described and extended to account for defects in the edges of the grooves. Expressions for the relative efficiency are given. The model shows that the wavelength for the maximum blaze intensity differs slightly from the wavelength lambda(0) satisfying mlambda(0) = d[

Tunable Blazed Gratings

Journal of Microelectromechanical Systems, 2006
In this paper, we report on the design, fabrication, and characterization of blazed gratings made tunable by electrostatic actuation. We combine KOH etching and deep-reactive ion etching (DRIE) to fabricate tunable blazed gratings (TBGs) on silicon-on-insulator wafers with optical-quality mirror surfaces on {111} crystalline planes.

Blazed phononic crystal grating

Applied Physics Letters, 2013
It is well known that blazed optical diffraction gratings can significantly increase the diffraction efficiency of plane waves for a selected angle of incidence. We show that by combining blazing with a phononic band gap, diffraction efficiency approaching 100% can be achieved for acoustic waves. We obtain experimentally 98% diffraction efficiency with

Resonant blazed metasurface gratings

2016 46th European Microwave Conference (EuMC), 2016
A low-profile flat resonant metasurface grating for achieving strong blazing and auto-collimation at microwaves is experimentally demonstrated. The design utilizes a planar approach for blazed gratings, but is different in its fundamental operation compared to phase-modulated blazed metasurface gratings.
