Blazed phononic crystal grating
Applied Physics Letters, 2013It is well known that blazed optical diffraction gratings can significantly increase the diffraction efficiency of plane waves for a selected angle of incidence. We show that by combining blazing with a phononic band gap, diffraction efficiency approaching 100% can be achieved for acoustic waves. We obtain experimentally 98% diffraction efficiency with

Resonant blazed metasurface gratings
2016 46th European Microwave Conference (EuMC), 2016A low-profile flat resonant metasurface grating for achieving strong blazing and auto-collimation at microwaves is experimentally demonstrated. The design utilizes a planar approach for blazed gratings, but is different in its fundamental operation compared to phase-modulated blazed metasurface gratings.

Grating efficiency theory as it applies to blazed and holographic gratings
Applied Optics, 1977Recently developed rigorous theories have been used to investigate the diffraction efficiency behavior of both blazed and holographic gratings. In order to assist designers of spectrometric systems we have covered a complete range of blaze angles for triangular grooves and modulations for sinusoidal groove shape in first and second orders.

Variation of blaze of concave diffraction gratings
Applied Optics, 1981The change in blaze wavelength as a function of position on a blazed concave diffraction grating surface is discussed. An experimental study of ruled and interferometric blazed concave gratings showed that the change in blaze across the grating surface is much less for an interferometric grating than for a ruled grating.

Formation of blazed holographic gratings
Applied Physics B Photophysics and Laser Chemistry, 1982Various methods for the recording of blazed holographic diffraction gratings are presented and the regions in the wavelength-groove density plane for which they can be used are shown. The gratings are made in the positive photoresist Shipley AZ-1350. The diffraction efficiency for s and p polarization was measured as a function of wavelength and angle ...

Optics & Laser Technology, 1989
Abstract The diffraction efficiency of smooth weak gratings can depend significantly on the profile of the gratings as, in the diffraction process there exists wave coupling. By adjusting the grating profile it is possible to obtain enhancement or suppression of the diffraction efficiency. Possible applications include improvements in grating devices,

Fabrication of the convex blazed grating
SPIE Proceedings, 2010The convex grating is one of the key elements in hyperspectral imaging spectrometers. In this paper the diffraction characteristics of the convex blazed grating is investigated by using rigor ous coupled-wave theory, which indicates that within the wavelength from 0.4 m to 0.8 m, the plus first-order diffraction efficiency can be over 35% through ...

Perfect blazing for transmission gratings
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 1990Using electromagnetic theory, we first establish that a triangular-groove dielectric grating can be optimized to concentrate all the transmitted energy into only one transmitted order. This is done by evaporating an infinitely thin layer of a perfectly conducting metal on the small facet of the grooves.

Double Reflection in the Blazed Grating
2007 IEEE/LEOS International Conference on Optical MEMS and Nanophotonics, 2007The blazed grating with the Rowland structure has the advantage of self-focusing and is chosen as the major component in the spectrometer chip. In simulations for the blaze angle design in visible spectrum, we discover the phenomenon of the double reflection diffraction. Its cause and parameter space are discussed.

Blaze wavelength of convex blazed grating in an Offner spectrometer
SPIE Proceedings, 2010Compared with other forms of spectrometer, Offner spectrometer with a concentric structure is offering a lot of advantages, such as a compact structure, better imaging quality, lower distortion, and so on, convex grating on the second mirror is the key-component in it.
