Lipid Droplet‐Organized MDM2‐Mediated P53 Degradation: A Metabolic Switch Governing Diet‐Driven Tumor Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor‐associated TP53 inactivation correlates with lipid droplet (LD) accumulation. High‐fat diets drive Cyb5r3‐Myh9‐mediated p53 enrichment on LD surfaces, accelerating its degradation while upregulating LD‐promoting factor CD36 expression to establish a feed‐forward loop. LD suppression or dietary intervention restores p53 and inhibits tumorigenesis,

Quantification of Cell Movement Reveals Distinct Edge Motility Types During Cell Spreading [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Actin-based motility is central to cellular processes such as migration, bacterial engulfment, and cancer metastasis, and requires precise spatial and temporal regulation of the cytoskeleton.

Paecilomyces lilacinus-induced Scleritis Following Bleb-associated Endophthalmitis after Trabeculectomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Paecilomyces lilacinus (P. lilacinus) is a rare cause of fungal scleritis. We herein report a case of P. lilacinus-induced scleritis following bleb-associated endophthalmitis after trabeculectomy that was successfully treated with surgical excision of ...

Cellular Adaptation to Mechanical Stress Emerges via Cell Shrinkage Triggered by Nonlinear Calcium Elevation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Here, a decision‐making mechanism underlying mechanical adaptation is demonstrated. This study demonstrates that cellular adaptation to mechanical stress can be induced by applying low‐amplitude stretch to cells. When the stretch reaches a critical amplitude threshold, it triggers Ca2⁺‐dependent positive feedback, which induces cholesterol efflux and ...

Circulating Tumor Cells Shed Shearosome Extracellular Vesicles in Capillary Bifurcations That Activate Endothelial and Immune Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using microfluidic models of capillary networks, this study discovered that fluid shear stresses on circulating tumor cells transiting through capillary‐sized bifurcations shed a novel class of shear‐dependent large extracellular vesicle, “shearosomes”, whose proteome comprises of over 3000 distinct proteins.

Clinical periodontal diagnosis

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Periodontal diseases include pathological conditions elicited by the presence of bacterial biofilms leading to a host response. In the diagnostic process, clinical signs such as bleeding on probing, development of periodontal pockets and gingival recessions, furcation involvement and presence of radiographic bone loss should be assessed prior ...
