Conceptual design of a Blended Wing Body aircraft

open access: yes, 2022
[EN] This Final Degree Project proposal consists in the conceptual design of a Blended Wing Body (BWB) aircraft. This aircraft configuration aims to increase aerodynamic performance by removing the tail and incorporating an airfoil-shaped fuselage, which is then smoothly merged with some high aspect ratio outer wings similar to those present in ...

‘The Bethune College Sensation’: Gender, Archive and Radical Passivity

open access: yesGender &History, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article explores the student protests at Bethune College, Calcutta, on 3 February 1928, against the Simon Commission, a British parliamentary delegation that excluded Indian representation. On this day, female students staged a quiet but radical act of defiance by refusing to attend classes, sign apologies or vacate their hostel, despite ...

Research on stability for blended-wing-body aircraft

open access: yesWorld Journal of Advanced Research and Reviews
The primary goal of this research is to research the stability properties of a blended-wing-body (BWB) aircraft. This section examines the assessment and selection of aircraft design parameters, planform design, and reflex wing and conducts a complete aircraft stability analysis. A BWB aircraft conceptual design has been completed and the design.

‘Fine Men from Afar’: Cricket and Empire on the Home Front

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract During the Second World War, contrary to enduring images of bombardment and scarcity, people on Britain's ‘Home Front’ continued to take part in a broad array of sporting activities. Cricket played a more significant role in the wartime sporting landscape than many historians have previously recognized.

Sino‐Mexican Encounters Before the ‘Diplomatic Opening’: Exhibition Diplomacy and Grassroots Friendship in the 1960s

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract During the 1960s, Mexico's Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) embraced Chinese overtures for a commercial opening as consistent with its anti‐imperialist posture, thereby foreshadowing the diplomatic opening to China in 1972. Yet this professed ideological pluralism was eclipsed by an underlying allegiance to the United States' anti ...

The U.S. Air Force Next-Generation Air-Refueling System: A Resurgence of the Blended Wing Body?

open access: yesAerospace
The interest in flying wings dates as far as the early years of the aviation age. Early investigations of the feasibility of the concept demonstrated increased aerodynamic efficiency and reduced fuel consumption.

Working‐Class Muscles? Co‐Operative Gyms in Interwar Britain

open access: yesHistory, EarlyView.
Abstract The Health & Strength League's network of co‐operative gymnasiums constituted one of interwar Britain's most significant yet overlooked physical culture institutions, affiliating over 800 gyms across Britain and Ireland by 1939. Drawing on Health & Strength magazine's editorial content and reader contributions, this article argues that these ...

Wing design for blended wing body airplane

open access: yesWing design for blended wing body airplane

Edges as ecological filters: Asymmetrical orientation‐specific arthropod activity across forest boundaries

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Moderate retention forestry creates structurally sharp forest edges that act as ecological filters, shaping orientation‐specific activity of ground‐dwelling arthropods. Using drift‐fence pitfall traps, we show that activity aligned with ecotones is more frequent than activity across forest–clearcut boundaries, particularly among detritivores.
