Block copolymers that form nanodomains and are used in nanolithography usually do not form nanopatterns with multiple shapes. Here the authors report a block copolymer that allows for UV- induced cleavage of one arm and demonstrate the transformation of ...

Origins of elastic properties in ordered nanocomposites [PDF]
We predict a diblock copolymer melt in the lamellar phase with added spherical nanoparticles that have an affinity for one block to have a lower tensile modulus than a pure diblock copolymer system.

AbstractMaterials composed of well‐defined mesoscale building blocks are ubiquitous in nature, with noted ability to assemble into hierarchical structures possessing exceptional physical and mechanical properties. Fabrication of similar synthetic mesoscale structures will offer opportunities for precise conformational tuning toward advantageous bulk ...

Evaluation of graphene incorporation for mechanical properties of polypropylene composites [PDF]
Graphene nanoparticles (GnP) were selected as an alternative reinforcing nanofillers, which enhances the mechanical properties of polypropylene (PP-homo and PP-block copolymer).

Stabilization of colloidal palladium particles by a block copolymer of polystyrene and a block containing amide sidegroups [PDF]
A block copolymer of polystyrene and poly(tert-butylmethacrylate) was prepared by anionic polymerization. The ester groups of the poly(tert-butylmethacrylate) were hydrolyzed, after wich the remaining carboxyl groups were reacted with pyrrolidine.

Block Copolymer Nanocontainers
Using cell dynamics computer simulation, we perform a systematic study of thin block copolymer films around a nanoparticle. Lamellar-, cylinder-, and sphere-forming block copolymers are investigated with respect to different film thicknesses, particle radii, and boundary conditions at the film interfaces.

Mesoscale Simulations of pH-Responsive Amphiphilic Polymeric Micelles for Oral Drug Delivery
It is of great significance to study the structure property and self-assembly of amphiphilic block copolymer in order to effectively and efficiently design and prepare drug delivery systems.

Block copolymer self-assembly for nanophotonics [PDF]
The ability to control and modulate the interaction of light with matter is crucial to achieve desired optical properties including reflection, transmission, and selective polarization.

Grain-Boundary-Induced Alignment of Block Copolymer Thin Films
We present and discuss the capability of grain boundaries to induce order in block copolymer thin films between horizontally and vertically assembled block copolymer grains.

Multipod structures of lamellae-forming diblock copolymers in three-dimensional confinement spaces: experimental observation and computer simulation [PDF]
The three-dimensional (3D) confinement effect on the microphase-separated structure of a diblock copolymer was investigated both experimentally and computationally.
