Video tracking using block matching

Proceedings 2003 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. No.03CH37429), 2004
A tracking algorithm that predicts the object contour using motion vector information is proposed in this paper. Tracking is achieved by predicting the object boundary using motion vectors, followed by contour update, using occlusions/disocclusion detection. An adaptive block-based approach has been used for estimating motion between frames.

Block-Matching Based Image Compression

2009 Ninth IEEE International Conference on Computer and Information Technology, 2009
In this paper, the motion estimation technique used in video compression is extended to still image compression, for which we called it the Block-Matching based imagecompression. Using a small amount of sampled data in thespatial domain, an approximate image of the original image is reconstructed.

Block-Matching Convolutional Neural Network (BMCNN): Improving CNN-Based Denoising by Block-Matched Inputs

2018 Asia-Pacific Signal and Information Processing Association Annual Summit and Conference (APSIPA ASC), 2018
There are two main streams in up-to-date image denoising algorithms: non-local self similarity (NSS) prior based methods and convolutional neural network (CNN) based methods. The NSS based methods are favorable on images with regular and repetitive patterns while the CNN based methods perform better on irregular structures.

Probabilistic Block-Matching based 6D camera localization

2012 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics (ROBIO), 2012
This paper describes a full 6D localization algorithm based on probabilistic motion field. The motion field is obtained by an adaptation of the video compression algorithm known as Block-Matching which provides a sparse optical flow. Such a technique is very fast and allows real time applications.

Confidence measures for block matching motion estimation

Proceedings. International Conference on Image Processing, 2003
This paper addresses the problem of deriving measures that express the degree of the reliability of motion vectors estimated by a block matching motion estimation method. We express the block matching motion estimation scheme in the probabilistic framework and derive the confidence measures in terms of the a-posteriori probabilities of the estimated ...

Block matching algorithm based on local codirectionality of blocks

2009 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2009
In this paper based on statistical analysis performed on a number of video sequences with different motion characteristics, we show that strong correlation exists between the direction of motion of a block and those of its neighboring blocks. Secondly, we show that a block moves in the same direction as a neighboring block that its prediction vector ...

Edge detection for fast block-matching motion estimation to enhance Mean Predictive Block Matching algorithm

2012 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications, 2012
This paper presents a new technique called edge detection for fast block-matching motion estimation. In order to find the matching macroblock for the current macroblock from previous frame, this technique classifies the current macroblock into shade and edge.

A Method for Match Key Blocking in Probabilistic Matching

2016
The pair-wise nature of Entity Resolution makes it impractical to perform on large datasets without the use of blocking. Many blocking techniques have been researched and applied to effectively reduce pair-wise comparisons in Boolean rule based systems while also providing 100 % match recall. However, these approaches do not always work when applied to

Modified block matching algorithm for fast block motion estimation

2010 International Conference on Signal and Image Processing, 2010
Motion estimation is the most important component of any video coding standard. So development of an efficient algorithm for fast motion estimation is the basic need for video encoder design. Block based motion estimation algorithms are used for fast motion estimation as block matching algorithms eliminate the temporal redundancy present in any video ...

Adaptive Template Block-Based Block Matching for Object Tracking

2008 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications, 2008
This paper proposes an adaptive template block for object tracking in typical block matching algorithms. The bounding box of moving object would have different scales while the object moves from near to far or from far to near. Therefore, the typical block matching algorithms using the fixed template block would obtain inaccurate object tracking and ...
