Turbo code performance as a function of code block size

Proceedings. 1998 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory (Cat. No.98CH36252), 1998
We show that a single family of turbo codes is "nearly perfect" with respect to Shannon's (1959) sphere-packing bound, over a wide range of code rates and block sizes. We also assess the "imperfectness" of various non-turbo codes for comparison,.

Design, Simulation, and Testing of a CMOS Analog Decoder for the Block Length-40 UMTS Turbo Code

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2006
In this paper, we present an all-analog implementation of the rate-1/3, block length 40, universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS) turbo decoder.

Potential applications of low complexity non-binary high code rate block turbo codes

IEEE MILCOM 2004. Military Communications Conference, 2004., 2004
High code rate block turbo codes (BTC) using Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) codes have already demonstrated near Shannon performances for quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. We show here that very low

VLSI circuit complexity and decoding performance analysis for low-power RSC turbo-code and iterative block decoders design

IEEE Military Communications Conference. Proceedings. MILCOM 98 (Cat. No.98CH36201), 1998
A VLSI circuit complexity analysis for low-power decoder designs is presented. Two low-complexity adaptive decoder architectures incorporating the recursive systematic codes (turbo-codes) and block-codes are considered in this paper.

An implementation method of a turbo-code decoder using a block-wise MAP algorithm

Vehicular Technology Conference Fall 2000. IEEE VTS Fall VTC2000. 52nd Vehicular Technology Conference (Cat. No.00CH37152), 2000
The several implementation methods of the MAP decoder are proposed. By using the novel time-shared process of a pipe-lined structure, the restriction of recursion process on the state metric can be efficiently conquered, and the complexity of the MAP ...

Enhanced decoding for high-rate LTE Turbo-Codes with short block lengths

2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops (ICC Workshops), 2017
State-of-the-art LTE Turbo-Code decoder architectures support throughputs of several Gbps by employing parallelism on different architectural levels. However, a very high flexibility with respect to code block sizes and code rates must also be retained ...

Utilization of 2-D Markov source correlation using block turbo codes

International Symposium on Turbo Codes and Iterative Information Processing, 2012
This paper proposes a joint source-channel coding technique using high rate block turbo codes where two-dimensional (2-D) source correlation of binary Markov source is well exploited.

Turbo and convolutional codes assisted Space Time Block Code-Spatial Modulation

2012 International Conference on Future Communication Networks, 2012
Two coding techniques are adopted in this paper to improve the performance of Space Time Block Codes-Spatial Modulation (STBC-SM). The two adopted coding techniques are the turbo-coding technique and the convolutional-coding technique over block fading ...

A novel Asymmetric Turbo code using Cuckoo Search algorithm

IEEE India Conference, 2014
Utilization of error-correction coding scheme in contemporary communication system enhances sufficient redundancy which in turn increases the immunity to deal with the channel impairments.
