Blocking probabilities in Erlang loss queues with advance reservation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study the blocking probability in a continuous time loss queue, in which resources can be claimed a random time in advance. We identify classes of loss queues where the advance reservation results in increased or decreased blocking probabilities.

Call Blocking Probabilities of Multirate Elastic and Adaptive Traffic under the Threshold and Bandwidth Reservation Policies

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2016
This paper proposes multirate teletraffic loss models of a link that accommodates different service-classes of elastic and adaptive calls. Calls follow a Poisson process, can tolerate bandwidth compression and have an exponentially distributed service ...

Analysis of wavelength reservation based quality of service differentiation in optical burst switching networks using Markov model

open access: yesEgyptian Informatics Journal, 2021
With the increased usage of time-critical applications, the need for differentiation among service classes has become a major goal in research communities.

Call-level Analysis of a Two-Link Multirate Loss Model based on a Convolution Algorithm

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2018
We consider a two-link system that accommodates Poisson arriving calls from different service-classes and propose a multirate teletraffic loss model for its analysis.

Congestion probabilities in CDMA-based networks supporting batched Poisson traffic

open access: yes, 2014
We propose a new multirate teletraffic loss model for the calculation of time and call\ud congestion probabilities in CDMA-based networks that accommodate calls of different serviceclasses\ud whose arrival follows a batched Poisson process. The latter is

Performance evaluation of a mobile hotspot supporting quasi‐random traffic

open access: yesIET Networks, 2023
The authors study and evaluate a mobility‐aware call admission control algorithm in a mobile hotspot. More specifically, a vehicle which has an access point of a fixed capacity and may alternate between stop and moving phases is considered.

Modeling and Analyzing Preemption-Based Service Prioritization in 5G Networks Slicing Framework

open access: yesFuture Internet, 2022
The Network Slicing (NS) technology, recognized as one of the key enabling features of Fifth Generation (5G) wireless systems, provides very flexible ways to efficiently accommodate common physical infrastructures, e.g., Base Station (BS), multiple ...

Second language learning of morphology

open access: yesJournal of the European Second Language Association, 2022
Second language (L2) speakers have especial difficulty learning and processing morphosyntax. I present a usage-based analysis of this phenomenon. Usage-based approaches to language learning hold that we learn constructions (form-function mappings ...

IMPACT OF COHERENT AND INCOHERENT CROSSTALKS AND POWER PENALTY ON THE OPTICAL CROSSCONNECTS [PDF]

open access: yesICTACT Journal on Communication Technology, 2011
Optical cross-connects are one of the most important components in the dense wavelength division multiplexer based optical networks. The crossconnects suffer from crosstalk due to the different wavelength light path channels during the switching process ...

Probability distributions of correlation and differentials in block ciphers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Cryptology, 2007
We study the probability distributions of difference propagation probabilities and input-output correlations for functions and block ciphers of given dimensions, for several of them for the first time. We show that these parameters have distributions that are well-studied in the field of probability such as the normal, Poisson and extreme value ...
