High Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular Disease
Fragmented investigation has masked the overall picture for causes of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Among the risk factors for CVD, high blood pressure (BP) is associated with the strongest evidence for causation and it has a high prevalence of exposure.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Comparison of Blood Pressure and Blood Glucose Level Among Elderly with Non-communicable Disease [PDF]
Due to increasing age, elderly are prone to non-communicable diseases (NCD), such as hypertension (HT) and diabetes mellitus (DM). Easy physical condition monitoring of people with HT and/or DM is by measuring their blood pressure (BP) and/or blood ...

Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

This study challenges the idea that Sit4‐associated protein subunit 3 (SAPS3) inhibits the energy‐sensing enzyme AMP‐activated protein kinase (AMPK) in muscle and liver tissue. Although SAPS3 interacts with AMPK in cultured cells, we found no such interaction in human or mouse tissues subjected to fasting, exercise, or a high‐fat diet.
