PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Multi-omics approaches reveal that diffuse midline gliomas present altered DNA replication and are susceptible to replication stress therapy

open access: yesGenome Biology
Background The fatal diffuse midline gliomas (DMG) are characterized by an undruggable H3K27M mutation in H3.1 or H3.3. K27M impairs normal development by stalling differentiation.

ANGPTL8 deficiency attenuates lipopolysaccharide-induced liver injury by improving lipid metabolic dysregulation

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research
Liver injury is closely related to poor outcomes in sepsis patients. Current studies indicate that sepsis is accompanied by metabolic disorders, especially those related to lipid metabolism.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Combined multiplex polymerase chain reaction-based targeted next−generation sequencing and serum 1, 3-β-D-glucan for differential diagnosis of Pneumocystis pneumonia and Pneumocystis colonization

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology
Background and ObjectivePneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PjP) remains an important cause of morbimortality worldwide, and differentiating Pneumocystis jirovecii (P. jirovecii) infection from P.

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.
