Quantification of Bronchial Circulation Perfusion in Rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The bronchial circulation is thought to be the primary blood supply for pulmonary carcinomas. Thus, we have developed a method for imaging and quantifying changes in perfusion in the rat lung due to development of the bronchial circulation.

Life Is in the Blood [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
It takes about 60 seconds for all the blood in your body to complete its journey. It travels from your heart to your extremities and returns, there and back again.

Circulating Coronary Blood Volume [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 1965
The circulating coronary blood volume was calculated in dogs from independent determinations of the rate of coronary blood flow and the mean circulation time from the root of the aorta to the mouth of the coronary sinus. The average value was 14.2±2.2 ml/100 g lean myocardium.

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

LES of non-newtonian physiological blood flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is performed to study the physiological pulsatile transition to turbulent non-Newtonian blood flow through a 3D model of arterial stenosis using the different non-Newtonian blood viscosity models.

Arteriovenous Blood Metabolomics: A Readout of Intra-Tissue Metabostasis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The human circulatory system consists of arterial blood that delivers nutrients to tissues, and venous blood that removes the metabolic by-products. Although it is well established that arterial blood generally has higher concentrations of glucose and ...

Clinical applications of next‐generation sequencing‐based ctDNA analyses in breast cancer: defining treatment targets and dynamic changes during disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Pulse oximetry and oxygenation assessment in small animal practice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Oxygen is essential for the cellular respiration of all aerobic organisms so it is important that the amount of oxygen present within the circulation can be measured.

Walaeus and the Circulation of the Blood [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1922
IT has been my good fortune to come across two epistles written by Johannes Walaeus (1604–1649), professor of medicine in the University of Leyden in the year 1640. The two epistles occur at the end of Bartholini's “Anatomy,” published by Nich. Culpeper, Gent., and Abdiah Cole, Doctor of Physick: printed (in English) by Peter Cole; London, 1665.

Circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors – a biomarker analysis of the ALICE and ICON trials

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.
