Blood Coagulation Tests of Gorillas

Journal of Medical Primatology, 1982
In coagulation tests on five lowland gorillas, values within or close to the normal human range were found with the following tests: partial thromboplastin time, prothrombin time, thrombin time, factor XIII screen, factor II assay, factor V assay, fibrinogen and antithrombin III. Factor XII levels were very high.

Abnormalities of Blood Coagulation Tests in Patients with Cancer

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1987
Routine blood coagulation tests were performed on 431 consecutive patients enrolled in a study of the role of anticoagulation in cancer treatment (VA Cooperative Study #75). Two hundred sixteen control patients were treated with standard therapy, and 215 patients were treated with standard therapy plus sodium warfarin.

Tests of Blood Coagulation and Hemostasis

JAMA, 1966
Of the numerous techniques for measuring coagulation (clotting) time (CT), the method of Lee and White 1 is certainly the most frequently cited. More often than not, however, the test is not done exactly as its originators described it. Recent criticisms that the CT is unreliable and insensitive stem at least in part from this fact.

Effect of Transurethral Resection of the Prostate on Blood Coagulation Test Results [PDF]

open access: possibleUrologia Internationalis, 2003
Aim: To evaluate results of coagulation tests and serum sodium levels during the early postoperative period in patients undergoing transurethral resection of the prostate. Patients and Methods: In a prospective study, blood coagulation tests were performed and serum sodium levels measured in 27 patients before and ...

Effect of rivaroxaban on blood coagulation using the viscoelastic coagulation test ROTEM™

Der Anaesthesist, 2012
This study investigated the influence of the oral direct inhibitor of factor Xa rivaroxaban on blood coagulation measured by rotation thrombelastometry ROTEM™. Blood was obtained from 11 healthy male volunteers before and 2.5 h after oral administration of 10 mg rivaroxaban. In addition to standard coagulation tests clot formation was measured by ROTEM™

Blood Coagulation and Coagulation Tests

Medical Clinics of North America, 1984
The hemostatic mechanism has evolved to provide efficient protection from traumatic blood loss and yet maintain the blood in a fluid state in the circulation as a whole. Recent advances in biochemistry have provided both detailed understanding of hemostasis and clinically useful coagulation assays to exploit this understanding.

Influence of oral contraceptives on coagulation tests in native blood and plasma [PDF]

open access: possibleInternational Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics, 1990
Routine coagulation laboratory tests, clotting times in native (not anticoagulated) whole blood, platelet-rich and platelet-poor plasma, and recalcification times in citrated whole blood, platelet-rich and platelet-poor plasma were performed in 14 healthy premenopausal women.

Tests for Blood Coagulation

1976
This chapter presents the tests for blood coagulation. To study patients thought to be suffering from blood clotting defects, various tests may be carried out. The simplest of these are the platelet count, bleeding time, whole blood clotting time, and Quick's one-stage prothrombin time.

Lamb wave-based blood coagulation test

Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical, 2018
Abstract Blood coagulation tests are a critical part in diagnosis of patients with bleeding disorders and cardiovascular diseases. However, most conventional blood coagulation tests require large and expensive instruments and skilled personnel. Here, we present a simple and low-cost approach to evaluate blood coagulation using Lamb wave-based device.

Mathematical Model for the Blood Coagulation Prothrombin Time Test

Thrombosis Research, 1998
A mathematical model for the prothrombin time test is proposed. The time course of clotting factor activation during coagulation was calculated, and the sensitivity of the test to a decrease in the concentrations of coagulation proteins or their activities was studied. The model predicts that only severe coagulation disorders connected with a more than
