Quantile regression for mixed models with an application to examine blood pressure trends in China [PDF]
Cardiometabolic diseases have substantially increased in China in the past 20 years and blood pressure is a primary modifiable risk factor. Using data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey, we examine blood pressure trends in China from 1991 to 2009, with a concentration on age cohorts and urbanicity.

A semiparametric regression model for paired longitudinal outcomes with application in childhood blood pressure development [PDF]
This research examines the simultaneous influences of height and weight on longitudinally measured systolic and diastolic blood pressure in children. Previous studies have shown that both height and weight are positively associated with blood pressure.

THE BLOOD-PRESSURE IN PNEUMONIA [PDF]
For decades clinicians have believed that many of the grave symptoms and a large number of the deaths in pneumonia were directly due to failure of the circulation. In 1889 Romberg1and his associates studied the problem and reached the conclusion that, while fatal circulatory failure did occur in rabbits inoculated with lethal doses of pneumococci, the ...

BLOOD-PRESSURE IN TUBERCULOSIS [PDF]
The presence of the tubercle bacillus, a local injury of tissue and diminished bodily resistance are accepted as a necessary trio of conditions which determine tuberculous infection. Clinicians for many centuries have recognized the third factor as important, while the first two have been accepted only in the present age of exact pathology.

The associations of self-reported salt-intake and spot urine sodium with home blood pressure
Purpose: A limited number of studies have suggested a nonlinear association between spot urine (SU) sodium concentration and office blood pressure (BP). We examined how SU sodium concentration and dietary salt obtained from a food frequency questionnaire
